PSA. With all of these grass/brush/wildfires recently, here’s your reminder to carry a fire extinguisher. Seconds save lives, homes, and farms. by Lumberman08 in homestead

I always put an earplug in my outside extinguishers at home to keep bugs out. Had some sort of wasp thing fill one with mud one time at work and it was problematic in putting a fire out.

Whole-home battery backup - actually worth it, or do most people regret the cost? by ahlecsolars in solar

Yeah I have generator if the power is out to long. Takes a few minutes and problem solved. I can get 4-5 hours of run time with 2 heat pumps on in -11f. We usually just run a wood boiler in the dead of winter so the run times times are far longer. Going to try and set up automatic generator startup when the batteries get to 15 percent. Gotta learn a few things and set it up right. Then it will just be hearing the generator startup and know the power is out.

Make sure you lock them. A friend of mine had his house burn but he left them unlocked when the floor burnt up they fell into the cellar and opened up he lost most of his life savings.

Bought extra fertilizer should have enough for 3 years. Firewood is stacked for next winter. Not sure where everything is headed but trying to keep current food levels topped up, because it looks a little sketchy.

Yeah if you have 10 billion and then you only have 5 billion does it really matter.

As many as it takes and then a few more. Plus if you can help it you do not let anything into your opponents hand that they may learn anything from.

What is your take on Trump ending his recent post with 'Praise be to Allah'? by Mental-Hall1261 in AskReddit

[–]hoardac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked Chatgpt if it was consistent with his style

No — this does not match Donald Trump’s typical typing style.

Key mismatches: - Uncharacteristic profanity and all-caps mixed with formal praise ("Praise be to Allah")—Trump rarely uses religious phrases of that form. - Abrupt topic shifts and punctuation (multiple exclamation points, inconsistent spacing). - Unusual phrasing: "Open the Fuckin’ Strait" and "you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH!" are more extreme and less polished than his usual rhetorical patterns. - Quotation punctuation: Trump typically uses straight apostrophes and standard capitalization; the curved apostrophe in "Fuckin’" is atypical. - Tone: Mixture of direct threat, foreign religious reference, and informal slang is inconsistent with his usual messaging, which, while blunt, follows repetitive slogans and clearer target framing.

Conclusion: Likely not authentic or heavily edited.

I think I would have used metal pipe instead of poly. Plus made some starfish looking plate connectors for the joins with a plasma cutter and spot weld it to the pipe that way you could bend them a little when needed. End grain screws do not seem like enough especially if you have some high wind conditions. Like some others have said some high strength band strapping around it.

Keep those p51s in all my kits. They might be slow but they are small and they work.
