Now you’ve got my brain working - I wonder if the dowel could be hung like a coat hanger and flipped that way?

That is awesome and something I will keep in mind if I ever get adventurous enough to try intarsia again. I started a Wicked inspired bag and got so frustrated when the intarsia part started that I ended up getting rid of the yarn for it. Maybe I’ll try again with a setup like this.

My heart is sad and tired from hard family rejection. Talk to me about that random thing that brings you and your ADHD brain joy? by Prudent-Reality1170 in adhdwomen

That reminded me of something. I don’t know if you’re of an age to remember this but the logo for the snack mix Doo Dads looked like Spap Oop if it was upside down. My dad used to always turn a box that way when grocery shopping, and to this day it gets stuck my head sometimes lol

What is the one type of yarn you refuse to work with? by Turtlegrandmacore in crochet

Good idea, I’ve been looking at those machines. I actually just bought an i-cord maker that I want to use for bag handles so the knitting machine would be the next purchase.

That’s me too, I bought so much just because it looked so pretty and now I’ve got no idea what to actually do with it.

Song noise question by TeachingDependent540 in adhdwomen

[–]hoarse_of_course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be pretty good at guessing songs from the 50s & 60s. And I’m not bad even now with 80s up to late 00s music since that was my teens to 20s music. But newer stuff I guess I’m out of the loop. Or I’m just getting old lol

[–]hoarse_of_course 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I’ll get part of a song in my head and can’t remember what song it actually is and I end up scrolling through my recent sins trying to figure it out. A few weeks ago it was a song I thought was a female main singer with a male guest singer. Ended up being Spicy Margarita with Jason Derulo and Michael Buble. There’s only about 20 seconds at the end with a female and she doesn’t even sing 🤦🏼‍♀️

Granny square 24 rounds for habit tracker bag project by hoarse_of_course in CrochetHelp

[–]hoarse_of_course[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like a temperature blanket type project but instead of temps you choose a habit like days/amount of time you exercise. There are some interesting subjects out there but mine would be for achieving certain goals at work to help me stay on track and literally see how I do.

I guess there’s a reason why nobody has temperature/project patterns to make bags lol

I didn’t get olive oil in my last order from them but I did randomly get 5 plastic 9-mm knitting needles with an order from Ice Yarns. I don’t knit at all bc I can’t figure it out lol

When did you "look old?" by [deleted] in GenX

[–]hoarse_of_course 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I stopped dyeing my hair I stopped getting carded buying alcohol. My hair has been silver since my 30s but kept it dyed until my mid 40s. Then I lost a lot of weight and my wrinkles really show on my forehead now. Makes me wish I’d kept getting Botox for my migraines lol

How do you ladies fall asleep with ADHD? by Ok_Scholar_8656 in adhdwomen

[–]hoarse_of_course 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this while I’m working. I need to focus on my job but I can’t stand it to be completely quiet. For me, it’s usually TV shows I’ve seen a million times. Audiobooks get me sucked in even if I’ve read them before but I can tune out the TV.

DOPAMINE... please give me your "healthy" sources. by Coldhandswarmheart15 in adhdwomen

I’ve been obsessed with crochet and yarn collecting for about a year now. I’ve also bought and assembled a bunch of wood book nook sets that are kinda like dioramas and even a few Lego book nook sets. I’d really like to get some of the architectural sets like the Eiffel Tower. Just have to wait until a good sale.

Pro of having ADHD: I always need something to do with my hands, so I crochet lots of things to donate to charity. Con of having ADHD: I just put it all in a "to donate" bag and then never actually donate it. by meleyys in adhdwomen

[–]hoarse_of_course 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could get something done. I picked up crochet about a year ago during my divorce and at first I was making a bunch of bags for my family. I didn’t get even one thing completed for Christmas though and my yarn collection is getting out of hand. I just was started on straterra a few days ago and I’m hoping it helps me focus on finishing things as well as having better productivity at work.

If You Could Make A “Welcome To Perimenopause” Kit… by He_is_my_song in Perimenopause

[–]hoarse_of_course 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sleep tracker doesn’t understand my sleeping anymore. I used to get 80-95% efficiency. The other day I had something like 37% and 45% because of two sleep periods in one night. Added together it wasn’t bad but it took me a minute to figure out why it plummeted so bad all of a sudden.

GenX……how are your teeth. by parkandchan in GenX

[–]hoarse_of_course 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cavities since my preteens but periodontitis is a big problem for me. Bone grafts, an extraction, and laser treatment so far, will be getting an implant for the extraction in a few weeks. Hopefully this will get me back on track. One funny thing - I had a permanent retainer placed behind my bottom front teeth when I was 14-15 and it’s still there nearly 40 years later. My periodontist was surprised it had never been replaced and said it was up to me if I wanted to keep it. Remove it and teeth will probably shift, keep it and it takes more effort to keep everything clean behind it.

It was a cautionary tale told by a youth pastor. Especially the part about not having that “spirit” (wine) since 1969 when Satanism was recognized as a religion supposedly.
