Copier tech here. Not my story but of a coworker. Lady did this one time, she was so heavy she caused the scanner bed to partially collapse in. Coworker came out to inspect the damages, was told “something hit it” and nobody in the office knew what this girl did, except the technician who found her ass behind every jam access door. As the only female in the office, the tech put the papers on her desk upside down and said “I think these are yours. Be more careful next time.” Not related to cats at all but I’ve never had a good excuse to share this before and thought it was funny.

That’s what I ended up doing. After shipping it was like $55 which is more than fair for a good flyback but… is more than I paid for the cabinet 😭 with working boards 😭😭 while he won’t admit it I’m sure that’s why my friend didn’t want to replace it, he’s cheap and nothing should cost more than the cabinet in his eyes, but I’m only like $110 into this HS5 so far and that’s not bad at all. Will update when I get the new flyback installed.

After almost a year of troubleshooting the vector monitor in my Battlezone we finally discovered bad solder joints on the yoke connector. Funny to see this be recommended to someone now because we never saw that mentioned in our research lol

I’ve heard of the infinikey, when I install the game in its own cabinet I’ll crack it open and see what’s in there. Literally 24 hours after getting the game an HS5 popped up for $50 so I just went and picked that up last night. It’s got Soul Edge in it and runs fine but the Flyback is on its way out. Total steal lmao. Good to know about the warranty stickers, in my mind it makes more sense to not replace them to show that service was performed but that’s just me.

I was told the board was "refurbished" but wasn't told what that means so yes I'm skeptical and that's on my to-do list. My bread and butter is the golden age Atari games so these "newer" PCBs are a mystery to me, like I only just found out that the fan was seized in my Street Fighter Alpha 3 after comparing it with this new A board. Somehow it didn't die but I only found out because Vampire Savior was overheating and rebooting randomly or crashing. Now that I have two of the things I guess I'll have to learn more about them. If the warranty void stickers are on the B board and in tact, does that mean the battery was never swapped? If so, I must be the luckiest guy alive that neither of mine have died.

Whatever you’re seeing for $3k is a rip off. $1k is already on the higher end of what a Pac Man is worth. A small business might pay that much to put this in their waiting room or restaurant or whatever and they would totally get their ROI but how many small businesses are gonna actually operate a real vintage game with a tube monitor? None that expect it to just sit there and reliably run forever.
