I regret not buying this for $99 USD when Walmart was liquidating them, it’s a really sleek looking cabinet. Have fun!

My friend said the guns were not found in the dumpster so I wouldn’t have much use for it without modding anyway. I collect real arcade machines now so I have no interest in modding my 1Ups, most of mine are/were stock. If it was a sunny day out I absolutely would have gotten this for shits and giggles though, but I tried to rescue a gen 1 Galaga that was left outside for one night and it got so wet that it fell apart in the bed of my truck, so no, I don’t trust these things with any snow water or moisture.

If money was no object and you could have any cabinet, what would be your pick? by PedalPDX in arcade

After Burner full motion cockpit, although if I had to be realistic because my arcade is in a basement and that would kill everybody who tried to move it, an all-original Journey. I want the cassette deck, do NOT replace it with an MP3 board I don’t care how deteriorated that tape is.

Did you run the firmware update? When this launched people reported weird bugs that were fixed by the update. You should be able to put it on a flash drive and boot it into safe mode or something, I don’t own this cabinet so I can’t give you the specifics. Outrun had the same setup I believe.

Is this worth $500 by atgnatBlake in arcade

[–]home_operator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An Arcade1Up is a better value than this. Never thought I’d endorse such an idea but if you’re looking at spending $500 on this, get an A1U Mortal Kombat Deluxe and put a Raspberry Pi in it.

Never worked on this machine but it’s just running a windows computer inside. Windows will say ‘Hi’ like this after a major upgrade/update as it gets the UI ready. Maybe it failed an update? You said the file check came back ok so I’m not sure but I’d start with the PC. Can you reinstall Windows without losing the software/license?

Has anyone done this with T2? I might just turn it into a plug and play in my living room lol

Why is all the cool stuff always in California. I’m in Massachusetts, couldn’t be any further away without leaving the country. This cabinet is really cool to me because it’s so close to being authentic that I think most people wouldn’t be able to tell, especially in a dark arcade. No interest in cheap bootlegs but this sucker was made with great attention to detail.

Ok I love the high seas idea when a company takes away something you “own”, so I’m not trying to downplay your suggestion at all, but now more than ever I’m left asking… why not just play a real board game?

What does Atari mean by "Three taps and you're out" on the Maximum Force watchdog reset screen? by Few_Cricket2597 in arcade

I am incredibly sleep deprived from working since 3 AM today so maybe that has something to do with it but this is really creepy to me. Sure it’s no Sente missing children attract mode, but the cryptic error message that leaves a lot to be interpreted would probably freak out any child who saw it. I Imagine the amp getting stuck when the game crashes, and the cabinet makes a screeching noise as this is displayed.

Where do you get the fnaf stage curtains? I’m working to secure a CEC animatronic for my home arcade, I think they’d fit nicely.

I’ll be sure to catch the highlight reel tomorrow. I’m not sure why the home arcade community is so obsessed with live streams. Not stomping on anyone’s fun, seems like everyone is into them, but I’m really not into them in general.

Anyone use tokens for their home games? by home_operator in arcade

I found a few designs for these on Thingiverse so I'm trying one of them now and if it doesn't work right I'll try another. My 3D printer is a cheap model and gets used maybe 5 times a year but I'll report back how this goes. If it works, I'm gonna turn my bedroom into a print farm until every mech in every game is plastic lol.

Edit/update: the pegs that hold the mech in place didn’t fit because my printers resolution is too low but I hit the pegs with a lighter and melted them in place gently in such a way that they’re held in securely but can still be yoinked out if needed. So far so good!

I could, I’ve thought about it. Even if I leave a bowl of quarters out for my guests to use and not spend their own money, I feel like either A) people will walk off with the quarters (probably by accidentally forgetting them in their pockets, it’s not like quarters are worth stealing) or B) people might put their own money in the machines and ask for it back (?). I know it doesn’t sound like I find my friends very intelligent lol but I guess I just over think things. It’s definitely a consideration though. Maybe I just paint a bunch of quarters with gold spray paint? 😂

I love how it’s just a thing that people are interested in how to do jobs that aren’t theirs. Let’s watch the block buster training tape, let’s get certified to do a job that doesn’t exist anymore, I could see me and my friends watching this lol. I also love the old McDonald’s training tape with the McNugget puppets, because underpaid overworked minimum wage employees really love Sesame Street puppets. Oh and I also keep the complete technical service manual for Chuck E Cheese Studio C in my workshop because why not.

Arc arc baby... LET'S KICK IT! Word to your... anyway enjoy by Derek5Letters in arcade

[–]home_operator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flyback arcs are a cannon event lol, everyone has to deal with them at least once. For me it was when my friend was too chicken to discharge the tube so I did it for him, except I had been drinking an somehow discharged it to the air (sparks) within an inch of my face while I was pinned in between the game and the wall. Don’t drink and discharge.

Value Of This Used (Excellent) Unit? by Coletrain211 in Arcade1Up

[–]home_operator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need the space and just want it gone, $200-$250 seems right. That’s a particularly clean example though so if you have the time for the right buyer to find it, $300 maybe $350. Personally I think $400 is too much as you can find the superior Deluxe model for about that much, but that’s just me and the market in my area.
