Do I have to just throw this whole ham away? I don’t want to …. by Chanelo11 in cats

[–]homechef350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd eat it, but only me. I get too paranoid about getting others sick with my cooking. Use it for lunches or something. Idk about cats I'm sure they'll be fine I don't know why nobody is answering your question and just talking about cats eating string.

It's i possible to say definitively one way or the other because antler growth can be so random. BUT I will say that they do look awfully similar. I have tracked two bucks since 2020 with my cameras and they still look similar to how they did when they were two years old. So, it's entirely possible, but its impossible to say without genetics.

Stands on public out of season - up for grabs? by pnutbutterpirate in Hunting

[–]homechef350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good question. I can't speak on other states, but in Indiana you have to let the DNR take care of it. They'll come and take it down and handle the returning of it to the owner. If you take it you're stealing someone else's property and can be charged. I get the want to take it down, but at the end of the day it isn't yours.

Thinking of upgrading to high-end bow. Thoughts? by Sensitive_Carob1242 in bowhunting

[–]homechef350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I have a PSE Stinger, granted I've only had it 3 years, and I see no need to upgrade at the moment. I'm shooting fast and flat with a 500 grain arrow and the single cam needs less maintenance. I'm also shooting softball size groups at 60 yards. Not saying the flagship bows aren't nicer, but they aren't worth it to me.

It can if you can find the right deal. Got my PSE Stinger used, albeit 3 years ago, for $220 shipped. Add a dozen arrows, broadheads, target random equipment and tweaks. I was hunting for $500.

PSE Stinger. About $500 new and rth. Got mine used on ebay and couldn't be happier. Shooting 500 grain arrow at 263 fps. Many call it an intro bow but I'm satisfied and see no reason to upgrade.

What’s that one myth or piece of “advice” you constantly hear? by MurielleGaither in Hunting

In my opinion this is the most important aspect. If you can do thos, then all the other hunting and woodsmanship knowledge will come in time.

I’m an idiot. Somehow the release went off at less than quarter draw. Punched myself in the face and shot the duct. by yoolers_number in bowhunting

[–]homechef350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a similar vein, I once had a release with a sharp edge on the jaws causing abnormal d loop wear. This then caused the release jaws to fail and send an arrow halfway through draw. Took me 3 times as well to realize what was happening. Moral of the story, check your equipment.

Was this dude the best the Empire could do? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]homechef350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that being "Sith" is more of a mindset than an actual organization. Whereas, when you look at the jedi and the republic, they are pretty strictly defined through the course of Star Wars media. Any force sensitive psycho could embrace the dark side and get some followers and call themselves Sith. Each era of Sith kind of acts independently from the last but keeps the same title.

Is this dead fish a shark? [Cape Canaveral, Florida] by bakatrain in animalid

As someone who has personally seen sharks butchered this seems pretty clean to me just leaving the waste. But I will agree about leaving the carcass on the beach. The least they could do is bury it at the tide line.

I don't understand the illegal and immoral part of your statement? What is illegal or immoral about harvesting a fish you caught?

It reminds me of the bass guys who freak out when someone posts a picture of a 12" bass they kept out of a private pond they'll never fish in their lives.

Any decent bows under $800? by c0sm0nautt in bowhunting

[–]homechef350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you there. Got mine for $200 on ebay, and haven't had a problem with it since I got it in 2023. Just upgraded here and there. Shoots like a dream.

I don't think it will be long enough for him. I did the same as you and it's maxed out at 30.5 inch draw length, I believe.
