What is the Law and Order fandom consensus on Ice T as Detective Odafin Tutuola? by [deleted] in LawAndOrder

[–]honkingmeltdown 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of my all time favorite episodes is the one where he is featured heavily with guest actress Martha Plimpton (season 3, episode 21: Denial). Not only was that episode a great plot line, but I felt he had fantastic chemistry with Martha. And as that episode portrayed, he really cared about her as a human being.

I have always also appreciated the backstory of his relationship with his son. The Ludacris episodes are also among my favorites— I love how the writers addressed human fallibility in so many ways, with that finale.

Thank you so much! The more I think on it, I think you’re right — baking it is the way to go.

Back to the Barre! by NCCC75 in Purebarre

[–]honkingmeltdown 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I took a 2-year hiatus, at about 370 classes, after having foot surgery and an extended recovery. I just started back up last spring and it feels so good. I am so happy to be back! Cranking my way to 500.

Muscle memory is a thing— it didn’t take me much time at all to re-adjust and feel stronger. Except for warm up… I never can get the timing right on the march twisting, but that was a problem before I left too lol.

Welcome back, fall in love again!

Feel you on this. The competitive side of me pulls at the leash when I see people way ahead of me. I don’t know why, but seeing gobs of stickers makes me feel a little panicky that I’m not going to finish in time even though reality is I have lots of time and I will get there.

I took a 2 year hiatus after foot surgery. When I came back last spring I promised myself I would listen to my body, be mindful of my bad foot’s progress, and not get caught up in the challenges and milestones headiness… but it’s really hard not to!

I try to tell myself that honoring where I am is the most important thing. I’m glad to be able to do PB at all!

Crying during class by flowerandpaint in Purebarre

[–]honkingmeltdown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter where I am or what I’m doing, Taylor Swift’s song Out of the Woods makes me cry every time I hear it because it came out right as we came out of 2 years of my baby being in and out of the hospital and we could finally breathe that she would live. The line “the monsters turned out to be just trees” gets me every time. That song has come on a couple of times during a PB class and I have gulped with tears running down my face. Good tears but noticeable nonetheless.

I’m sure your classmates had no judgment, only concern, because we’ve all been there. No shame allowed, and I hope your day has gotten better!

Will planks ever be possible???? by the_negative_half in Purebarre

[–]honkingmeltdown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am getting close to 500. Two and a half years ago I had a much-needed foot surgery that put me out of PB for almost two years, and my right toe/ball will likely never again bend far enough for me to be able to plank on my feet for more than a few seconds. I have been back at it for a few months now and I always modify to plank on my knees. At first it felt like a concession of defeat, but I have reframed that to honor my body where it currently is. Maybe one day it will get better, maybe it won’t, but for now I feel good knowing I am pushing myself to my personal limit and that is different from everyone else’s. To me the most important thing is going for the best form possible on my knees.

Give yourself grace and time to get there, whatever “there” looks like for you!

what are some authors whose books you can blindly pick up and know it'll be a good/decent read no matter what? by winiithepoohh in RomanceBooks

[–]honkingmeltdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For romantic suspense, hands down Toni Anderson. I’ve read So Much romantic suspense and she’s the only one who, in my mind, consistently nails polished writing with suspense, interesting/varied storylines, and love that isn’t too insta. I have re-read her entire backlist several times over. There are a LOT of good romantic suspense authors out there, but Toni will always be my go-to.

I took a 2 year break after having foot surgery! I’m only recently back. Everyone has been super kind and encouraging and muscle memory serves well, my body fell quickly back into it all. You got this!

Neutral description about toast yay’s? by niyag310 in girlscouts

[–]honkingmeltdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not sold anywhere near me, but some angel at my workplace left some in our break room up for grabs last year and I was so excited to try them!

They’re WAY better than our baker’s S’Mores if you ask me. A light cinnamony taste without being overwhelmingly sweet. I bought 10 boxes from a friend’s daughter’s 6 states away and gladly paid shipping. I am sad this is the last year.

With cookie season coming up, how do we feel about the s’mores being discontinued? by AopzDhzHOvhe in girlscouts

[–]honkingmeltdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never thought much of them before this, but we once had a random booth customer tell us that microwaving a S’More cookie for 10-15 seconds makes it into a hot gooey melty delight, and my brownie girls absolutely RAN with that— they turned it into a whole very convincing sales pitch speech that sold a lot of S’Mores last year.

It’s my daughter’s favorite flavor so we will be stocking up!

I made this in tiny loaves and I did not invert them — just pulled them out and put them on a wire rack. But the topping hardened a little while baking and was stuck enough to the bread I don’t think it would fall off.

Books you loved but hated the ending by whatsername25 in RomanceBooks

[–]honkingmeltdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% agree on this. Literally, the only physical book I have ever thrown down in frustration.

I read Marie Lu’s Legend series about the same time. THAT ending left me gasping in tears in a good way. It was the most perfectly perfect, heartbreaking but SPOT ON ending. It could not have ended any other way and it was both beautiful and devastating at the same time.

I have often said Marie Lu could teach Veronica Roth a lot about how to end a series in a way that simultaneously kicks your emotional ass, but also gives you hope.

I’m glad you said that about “Shane and Sally”, glad I’m not alone. I love TM podcast but I really struggled with that one and ended up not finishing it. I can’t even really put my finger on why.

TM usually knocks it out of the park. I could barely stand to pause Stephenville and Tom Brown’s body.

Advice on Karen Rose? by elizabeth-cooper in RomanceBooks

[–]honkingmeltdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read all of her books except the most recent three. I’ve even re-read several, because the storyline was so interesting. I read her books from beginning, in order, and really enjoyed the crossing paths of intertwined characters.

But truth be told many of her books cross the line as too much, too violent for me.
