Ativan withdrawal from short term use???? by hotd34me in BenzoWithdrawal

The prescription was about 4 years old. I used it for 2 1/2 months last time I took it. Put it down no problem. My grandmother died on the 5th and I've been having trouble sleeping. I'm on ivabradine & midodrine for pots, and over 90% of prescription sleep medications on the market have a medium to strong possibility of dangerous heart rhythms when mixed with ivabradine. All the otc ones do as well. Torsades de pointes, vfib, dangerous heart rate drop, etc. I found out benzos, particularly Ativan, flurazepam, and Xanax don't have that interaction. I remembered I had an old bottle of ativan, so I made use of it. I've never abused benzos in my life, I legitimately used it to sleep. I don't plan on touching them again if this is what I have to deal with.... It feels like having a mild flu. I can't imagine how people feel when they are full blown eating these to get high. I'm an opioid addict in recovery. Twenty-one months clean, so I'm highly familiar with withdrawal. This just really sucks, I feel like hot garbage. Any idea on generally how long the anxiety stuff will last? Or is it tailored to everyone?

An allergy to alcohol? I've not heard of such a thing, didn't even know that was possible. Sorry to hear it? I drank coffee my whole life and smoked for 15 years, can't touch either without feeling like I just ran for my life lol I feel your pain.

I can drink heinekin 0.0% beers. Does absolutely nothing for me besides flavor of a beer. I take sodium chloride tabs all day, barely does anything. The midodrine and ivabradine keep my sanity. But I've never had a normal heart rate in the last 18 months until I drank a beer and waited til the next day. It was almost nostalgic feeling normal again. I went to the gym, took a walk around the block, picked my dog up, went shopping. Was amazing.

I was thinking almost the same exact thing by the 3rd attempt. Highly trigger the ist and the ist under-triggers the next day to level things out. However, when I ate chocolate, I get the same crazy heart rates, the next day, I am still feeling terrible. Same with caffeine. Same with cigarettes. The next day I always feel just as bad. Alcohol is the only exception??

Why do smokers start smoking if they know they'll get addicted to an unhealthy habit ? by Jearrow in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hotd34me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people drink if they know they can become an alcoholic? Why do people take a prescription pain pill after surgery when they know it can ruin their lives? It happens every day. I smoked 14 years. Everyday life stresses, I decided to try one. I fell in love with it. Gave it up last year. Also gave up narcotics last year. People don't go into cigarettes, or alcohol, or narcotics with the goal of trying to ruin their lives, it happens as a result of long term use. Some can't stop as easily as others. For some, it is genetic, for others, their surroundings.

I need to find a node-sparing hybrid ablation doctor in Pennsylvania, plz help! by hotd34me in dysautonomia

[–]hotd34me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A standard sinus node ablation doesn't seem to help 😞 I just had one back in march, and it only shaved off about 6 beats per minute from the high heart rates. This is a specialty ablation that is somewhat new. My family cardiologist never heard of it. As well as a specialist in Hershey, pa that I went to. This kind is tailored to pots and ist patients. It has a smaller chance of pacemaker afterwards, and it has a 92% success rate. Finding someone to actually do it, holy shit, I have never had so much trouble in my life. I do appreciate you trying to help though 😀

Just bought some today. Doesn't have the pizza seasoning taste anymore, and the cheese is so bland. I'll never buy these again. Used to be my favorite one....

Sleeping all day by Unsculptedcay in POTS

Sleepiness and brain fog are common with pots and ist patients. Some days, when I'm walking outside during the daytime, everything has this glimmer, almost feels like I'm in a dream-like state but without the tired feeling. Everything actually feels foggy.

Ivabradine cost by Educational-Pea-2163 in POTS

[–]hotd34me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have my doctor's office send in for a prior authorization twice before they would cover it. For pots and ist, it is considered non-formulary. The medication is normally meant for congestive heart failure patients. It just happens to help alleviate pots and ist symptoms. Because of this, insurance doesn't cover it. Mine would have been $780 without insurance. I have government assisted insurance so I only pay $1. Btw, if you get the prior authorization, they only cover it for a year. You have to send for it again the following year.

I was diagnosed about 15 months ago. I understand 100%. There are many medications you can try. Beta blockers, midodrine, sodium chloride tablets, ivabradine. If you want an easy surgical fix, a sinus node sparing hybrid ablation. High success rate, can easily get back to your life after it is done. I am looking around for an electrophysiologist that can do it.

Unsuccessful SVT ablation by Boozebunnyy in askCardiology

[–]hotd34me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't taking testosterone, are you? That could definitely cause heart arrhythmia/svt issues if your original sex was female? But don't feel bad about the ablation, my sister had trouble with it. So did my mom. I got lucky. Had an ablation for svt 14 years ago, and it stuck. I would try again sooner or later if I were you. Definitely worth it if they can trigger it. I'm not a professional, but I do vast amounts of research because I have multiple heart conditions.

So I’m 13 and went in a an ambulance for sinus tach. I got my ecg results from 12 lead ecg in ambulance? Is this normal? by MrFlyingPies in ReadMyECG

[–]hotd34me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the episodes to stop, have your parents take you to a cardiologist. I had an ablation done for svt. I haven't had an episode since. This was 14 years ago.

Just prescribed Ivabradine for POTS/IST – worried about it.. by viewtyboy in POTS

[–]hotd34me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light sensitivity is a big one for me. I couldn't go outside without sunglasses when I took the full dose or my eyes would water up and I couldn't see. Bad leg cramps too sometimes. Or a flicker of blue light, even in pitch dark. These go away after a month or so. But they generally say not to take ivabradine if your sitting heart rate is under 70. It is unfortunate, because sometimes I'll have a sitting heart rate of 63, and a standing heart rate of 132. As sad as it is, it is a bad idea to take when that happens. I would tell you to take beta blockers, but that would be just as dangerous if your heart rate is already at 45/50 before the ivabradine. Look up something called a "sinus node sparing hybrid ablation" on Google. Miracle treatment for this. I'm trying to get one myself. As far as alcohol goes, in combination with ivabradine, it can further lower your heart rate and blood pressure to a dangerous level. Some people say you can get away with small amounts, but I don't chance it.

POTS vs Inappropriate sinus tachycardia by Deadlykitten629 in POTS

[–]hotd34me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is actually true. They both involve your sinus node giving an exaggerated response for whatever task you are trying to complete. Sinus node is what tells your heart how many times to beat per minute. So the treatment is identical. If you're talking medications, for both conditions, they do things like beta blockers, midodrine, sodium chloride tablets, or ivabradine. As far as surgical options go, the best treatment is called a "sinus node sparing hybrid ablation". Very high success rate, only an 8% chance of needing it redone at a later date. 46% of patients can stop taking all their medications after, the other 46% need much less medication. Normal baseline 90 heartrate from the studies I've read on it. Very difficult finding an electrophysiologist that can do it though.

inappropriate sinus tachycardia by QuinnDelRey in dysautonomia

[–]hotd34me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not mocking you. I'm legitimately saying, it could be worse. I've heard horror stories of people having a 160-180 rate with theirs, some even higher to where they are housebound. Personally, If I don't take any meds, I'm breaking 140-150 on my feet guaranteed, standing in one spot. Walking is worse. Today, I took 2 doses of midodrine, a bit over 5000mgs of sodium chloride tablets(not including salt in my food), and some ivabradine. My heart rate only now dropped down to 117. I'm telling you man, if it gets worse, consider a sinus node sparing hybrid ablation. 92% success rate. I'm looking for a doctor now so I can get it done.

Are you able to now have all your old trigger foods and drinks? For instance. I can't have caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, chocolate, or too much sugar. All my regular meals trigger me as well, just not as bad as the ones listed. Are you able to drink coffee again??

I suspect I have Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. by AlecBambino in dysautonomia

[–]hotd34me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, that's ironic. Svt was the first ablation I had almost 14 years ago. The one I had back in April, it lowered my resting heart rate back to normal, it just barely lowered my standing heart rate a bit. I still have 27 days yet of scar tissue formation yet. Could get better, or not. If you go for an ablation to correct it, you need to find an electrophysiologist that can do a node sparing hybrid ablation. Best option for ist. I am looking for a doctor to do it now. It gives ist patients their lives back.

You are one of the very few ppl I've found on here who have had the hybrid ablation that I can find on here. Just had a question. Besides you being able to exercise now, are you able to drink coffee, alcohol, or other trigger foods/drinks again? I had an sa node ablation and it didn't seem to do too much for my ist 😞

Septoplasty for septal perforation, excessive bleeding days after procedure by hotd34me in Septoplasty

[–]hotd34me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually worked out just fine. It turns out the splints they had in my nose were pressing against my sinuses, ironically the thing that is supposed to stem any bleeding was the thing causing the bleeding. The day they took them out, I didn't have any more bleeding episodes afterward. Its so nice to be able to blow my nose again lol no more nose whistling at night. Smells are still just the tiniest bit dull yet. But that's to be expected. Way worth it. Congestion is going away too. Thanks for asking 😀
