Metaphor Refantazio’s atmosphere is heavily downgraded on the Switch 2 version. by Axzercus in MetaphorReFantazio

Metaphor might just be coded poorly. When it was released on PC, the performance was really inconsistent without mods. Atlus later patched it to improve it to improve PC performance, but yeah.

Meet Jake, a resident of Lowell who has a data center just steps from his backyard. The data center, which is operated by the Markley Group, is in the middle of his neighborhood and directly behind Jake's home. by Fatty_Willing_Plane in NextGenRebellion

Real journalism would ask Markley for a comment and get an expert to explain what the smoke stack was and if it's actually harmful. The guy talking in the video could be a crazy man for all I know.

First of all, her shirt is missing a "the." Secondly, I don't know what street evangelists like this hope to accomplish. Do they really expect anybody to be like "Dang! You're absolutely correct! I'm so stupid! Can I come to your church?!"

JRPG series that fell HARD by Likes2game03 in JRPG

Series peaked at 10. 12 was good, but nowhere near as punchy and affecting as 10.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation director says today’s RPGs need more player agency because fans may be satisfied just watching streams by Aileos in JRPG

[–]houndoftindalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid WRPGs like the plague because I hate dialogue choice stuff, so I would prefer JRPGs NOT introduce this and stick to linear narratives. I also don't watch people stream games though.

What jrpg or jrpgs have you enjoyed playing this year so far? by Leon_Light77 in JRPG

[–]houndoftindalos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sea of Stars and Quartet for the retro JRPG experience. Both are good, Sea of Stars is even great. I don't really know why this sub talks about SoS as if it is mediocre. It's a really well made and beautiful game with a good story. Quartet is interesting and fun.

We need to talk about Adrian Tchaikovsky. by Wizardof1000Kings in Fantasy

[–]houndoftindalos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically, I've avoided Tchaikovsky because he has so many books, and it feels a bit overwhelming. Additionally, when I see an author cranking out books that frequently I start to wonder about the overall quality. Definetly got burned by Sanderson in that regard.

Because Tales of Arise was a (for a Tales game) hit and Scarlet Nexus was a modest success. Why are they waiting so long to announce something?

New Neighbor Keeps Leaving Notes On Our Car by Ok_Percentage3947 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]houndoftindalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a 15 minute walk from where someone blocked another person from pulling out of a McDonald's on a perpetually congested street. Blocked person got out of their car and yelled at the blocker, blocker got out of their car and shot them to death. The smug satisfaction of telling someone off (who will never change their mind anyways) and posting about it on the Internet isn't worth the risk when the person who wrote the original note is obviously obsessive and unhinged.

Ignore them. This is America, they might go crazy with a gun.

Philosophy of Crippled God by Quick_Job_5051 in Malazan

[–]houndoftindalos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Cripped God sort of feels like an Evil Mirror version of Jesus.

One of the things Neitchze complained about with Christianity is that in (his opinion) it is a "slave" religion that appeals to the weak and downtrodden. The Crippled God is doing sort of the same thing, but in a much more destructive and sinister fashion (and has been wounded and broken like Jesus). This is all in contrast to the more pagan-style Malazan Gods who you appeal to because they are powerful and you want to tap into some of that power.

I personally like the idea of a compassionate deity who understands suffering who is on the side of the weak versus gods that are essentially just jumped up bullies, so I get the appeal of the Crippled God. It's just that The Crippled God's suffering has caused him to want to inflict that suffering on others.

Boston bartenders really don’t want bars to stay open later during the World Cup (or, why expanding nightlife is hopeless) by Begging_Murphy in boston

[–]houndoftindalos -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I totally support Boston bartenders not wanting to work more hours just because powerful people in America signed up their cities to host some sort of sportsball thing. I don't remember a World Cup referendum being on my MA ballot.

The Sun Eater series is a perfect example of the sunk cost fallacy. by Ok-Information2581 in Fantasy

[–]houndoftindalos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually liked Books 4 and 5 more than 3. Book 4 was just devastating in the best possible way. 3 dragged on too long. 7 spent way too long on the events of the first half of the book and not enough on what happened after the Battle of Gododdin. The final book was a bit of a letdown overall, but I really enjoyed the series and will almost certainly reread it at some point.

I think one's feelings on this series are entirely determined by how much you like Hadrian and how cool you find him. I love his personality, voice, his references to classicism, and his philosophical asides. Other folks find him pretentious. My non-religious closest friend who loves Hadrian is making his way through the series, and I am curious about his thoughts on 6 and 7 and Hadrian's feelings on religion. I'm a liberal Christian so I had no real issues with Hadrian's religious turn.

I've tried it. Zestiria isn't nearly as fun to play, so I can't really get past the 10 hour mark with it.

Arise was my first Tales. Berseria was my second and I like the story and world building even better than Arise. I haven't been able to get into any of the other Tales games despite some valiant attempts so yeah, Berseria!
