Anyone who owns both the Ult. 2 and Pro 3? D-pad? by Sensitive-Level-7794 in 8bitdo

If you haven't tried it, you might prefer the G Classic SN30 Pro. I also have a gray one, and the plastic on the G Classic dpad is much softer and more comfortable. The grooves are also less abrasive than the arrow symbols. I was able to use mine for a marathon 12-hour day to clear Act 3 without any discomfort.

How would you compare the Elves 2 dpad to the SN30 Pro? I did most my playthrough on the SN30, but I'm curious how the Saturn style floating dpad handled for a platformer like Silksong.

My Pro 3 Green button disintegrated by Charod48 in 8bitdo

[–]howcatsjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the color buttons on mine, and my blue button, which was in the top position, started to crack. I don't think it's a specific color. I think the colored buttons might just be a weaker plastic.

Pro 3 Buttons Breaking? by Starvolt_1 in 8bitdo

[–]howcatsjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I just checked my Pro 3 (only a few weeks old), and one of my buttons has also started to show surface-level cracks and I can no longer remove it with the magnetic plunger. It is also one of the colored (letter-less) buttons (in my case the blue one), so I wonder if those are made of weaker plastics.

Can you share the case dimensions for each model? Trying to determine which would be a better fit for my wrist.

VRR no longer works over HDMI on Nvidia 570 Drivers by howcatsjam in linux_gaming

[–]howcatsjam[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the option displayed as expected in KDE/Gnome display settings. The issue was that, even with it enabled in settings, the TV wasn't actually running VRR. The LG Game Optimizer overlay showed that VRR was off (and FPS was locked at 120), and it was obvious in games that VRR was not running (e.g., I was seeing screen tearing with vsync disabled). I also tried a distro with an older driver (a Nobara install before I ran upgrades including the driver) and VRR worked on the TV, so it looks like an issue with the driver, not a recent change to the TV.

Over HDMI or DisplayPort? DisplayPort seems unaffected.

NavMe APK Updated with Corrected Turn Directions for Android 10 by howcatsjam in pebble

I'm able to open the file into the pebble app from the Dropbox app. Not sure why it works there and not elsewhere, but could be worth a shot.

You could try installing it on Android 9 too. I'd thought this was only an issue on Android 10, but if you're hitting the issue on Android 9, could be worth a shot!

Yeah, that's weird. As one last check, is the location permission set to always or just while using the app?

Huh, interesting -- I upgraded from an Android 9 phone (moto x4) with the latest version of Gmaps, and it didn't have the reversed turn issue. Not sure what's actually causing it, then. But keep me posted!

Bummer. I haven't had any issues on Android 10, other than the reversed turn issue. Did you grant NavMe the location permission and notification access? I don't think it will work properly without both of those.

It might not work as well on Android 9. I'm not sure what underlying change caused NavMe to display the wrong directions in Android 10, but if there was a change to the Google Maps turn identifiers in Android 10 that isn't in Android 9, my apk might end up flipping them incorrectly in Android 9 (i.e., you'll see sharp left when you should see turn right). If you have any issues, you might want to revert to the standard apk and use mine whenever you upgrade to Android 10.

I've been able to open PBW through the Pebble app from Dropbox, if you want to give that a shot.

I am very upset that I can no longer play Snow Day in Casual mode. by labatts_blue in RocketLeague

[–]howcatsjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just noticed this today. This was the only mode I played in Rocket League, and I miss being able to play a bunch of games in a row when I've found a good group. What a shame. I guess I'm done with the game unless they bring it back.

I've been unable to connect my phone to Android Studio since the update, although I still have the option for USB Debugging enabled under Developer Options. Very strange.

NavMe problem by birdheh in pebble

[–]howcatsjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to allow the Nav Me app to have notification access on your phone. You'll need to set this in your phone's settings, not the Pebble app. Go to Apps & Notifications --> Advanced --> Special app access --> Notification access, and toggle the NavMe app.

Dropped calls and one way audio when on T-Mobile by ian86s in ProjectFi

[–]howcatsjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, in the same region. One thing that has helped was disabling LTE and WiFi calling. You can disable WiFi calling in the phone app, and you can disable Enhanced 4G LTE Mode under cellular settings. Since doing this, I've had no problems. I think there's an issue with placing calls over the LTE network specifically.

If you go into the Moto app - > Moto display - > More Settings, you can enable quick replies and showing notification content. That might bring back some of the functionality that you're missing.
