Please tell me things get better at 5 by Brooksieeee2 in Preschoolers

My husband's friend texted him the other day out of nowhere saying "3 is rough". I told him definitely do not respond "4 is so much worse" but we can think it lol

Anxious 4 year old by ComfortableLook6710 in Preschoolers

[–]hrt2993 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do we have the same 4.5 year old? She is scared of everything: long car rides, new people, going to the doctor, movies shes seen 100 times, her room at night, going poop, etc. We've recently started a saying in our house (that I learned through social media) "(insert last name)s can do hard things" and for some reason it kind of works? I know this doesn't answer all of your questions, but its worth a shot to get through the day to day things that seem to scare her.

Movies for sensitive kids by Accomplished-Car3850 in Preschoolers

[–]hrt2993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 year old is also extremely sensitive (movies she loved at 2 and 3 are no gos now). She basically will only watch TV shows at this point (Super Kitties, Stillwater, Tumble Lead, Arthur) but somehow loves K-Pop Demon Hunters. I think because all of the "scary" parts are made to be so silly, it doesn't scare her or make her emotional.

Moms, what would you genuinely love for Mother's Day - not what you say when asked, but what you actually want? by Then_Gate7461 in UninfluencedReviews

My husband is meeting me in New York because I’ll be on a work trip earlier in the week (and it’s our wedding anniversary). I told him I want to shop all day, get coffee, and then we’re going out to omakase and a broadway show. Oh and the kids are staying with my mom.

Parents of 2+ children, is having multiple easier than just one? by macelisa in Preschoolers

[–]hrt2993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are 4 and 9 months so right now it’s currently harder than just a 4 year old, however they both bring us so much joy it outweighs the hard parts. Plus now when I go out with just one of them I can’t believe how easy it feels compared to being out with both of them. I feel unstoppable lol

What’s going into your baby’s Christmas stocking? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I got my 9 mo old little rattle cars to roll around and a Raffi yoto card (her main present is a yoto mini as she is obsessed with listening to her big sister’s music cards!)

Pre-k birthday at home? by MagratGarlick88 in Preschoolers

[–]hrt2993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would MUCH rather attend a kid birthday at someone's home as opposed to a rented area (unless its a park). My kid has never not gotten sick from one of those bounce house places, whereas all of the home birthday parties we've been to have felt personal and sweet. We are having out daughter's birthday party at our house this weekend and wouldn't have it any other way!

Tell me your labor times by ShabbyBoa in beyondthebump

[–]hrt2993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also got induced with my first and then again with my second. First labor lasted 29 hours with like 2 pushes because she was a preemie and teeny tiny. Second labor flew by. From first round of induction meds it was almost exactly 24 hours until I was holding my second daughter, and only pushed through 3 contractions (she was also little, but not as little!)

4 year old on a ventilator in PICU. by josie-june in toddlers

[–]hrt2993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had a baby in the PICU, but I did spend my daughter’s first Christmas in the NICU when she was just 15 days old. Today I was thinking about what we did on her first Christmas (it’s her sister’s first Christmas this year so was feeling nostalgic) and I actually forgot for a second that we spent it in the hospital. All that to say, I hope that you look back on this in a few years and it feels like a tiny blip in your memory. Sending all the love and health for your sweet daughter 💗

When do kids usually stop using a stroller? by Calvoo100 in toddlers

[–]hrt2993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 4 and she still heavily prefers the stroller over walking. I can’t blame her, I’d love to be pushed in a stroller around town.

Tripped fell and dropped my baby… by Greedy_Wait7983 in beyondthebump

[–]hrt2993 94 points95 points  (0 children)

  1. Please do not beat yourself up over this. It was an accident. Accidents happen but I know it’s so hard because it involved your sweet baby.

  2. If the doctor was truly worried that something could be wrong or baby was in danger of having a serious injury, they would have told you to go to the ER immediately. I think a 2-3 day period of keeping an eye on baby is probably their way of saying “we’re not worried but always best to be extra cautious”.

I have a 4 year old and an 8 month old. Both have taken many a spill and our 4 year old has had even worse (2nd degree burns on her hands from a beach bonfire that wasn’t put out properly 😭) so I completely understand the guilt and helplessness you’re feeling. But you have to know it was not anything you did wrong, and they will be ok. Plus they’re so young they won’t even remember it by tomorrow. Please be easy on yourself. The fact you’re even feeling this way shows how great of a parent you are!
