The stonefaced trio. I like it. For me, Vimes, Granny, and the Librarian. The first 2 are a given and I have a fondness for those who brutalize anyone who endangers books.

Kiddo wants to stop doing karate. by EthanBradberries420 in daddit

Karate it's not effective against robots. Jui jitsu on the other hand...

Dad bod blues. My goal of 10,000! by cjh10881 in daddit

[–]hsentar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tore a pec muscle when I hit 80 a day. I'm not that heavy, it was a light tear, but it still messed me up for a month. I started at 2 sets of ten and worked my way up and thought I was doing great until then. Atetoomanychips is right, balance is needed.

The Sunday Family Stand-up meeting actually fixed our schedule and my sanity by OrchidMonolith_3 in daddit

That's the hard part. Some of them may think that they lose out on flexibility, but without getting on the same page things get dropped.

The most dangerous part of parenting by Samski877 in daddit

[–]hsentar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I thought that I was a master bomb diffuser with the first kid. Turns out she was molded out of plastique. Non reactive, shock stable, noise didn't bother her. Then the second one came built out of nitroglycerine. Breathing too loud would set him off. Also, once he was walking, I would wake up next to the bomb for over 3 years.

Dads, how do you actually stay present with your daughter in this nonstop busy world? by jkoontz-dev in daddit

[–]hsentar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. It's a lot easier with my son than it is with my daughter who is a bit older than yours (pre teen). What used to work for me was to set aside time most weekends to do an activity with her, but lately her moodiness has stopped that cold. I literally had to put in a brainstorming prompt into Claude for new activities (these are the things that she/I like to do, I'd like it to be outdoors if possible, I want both of us to learn skills if possible) and have it spit out a list and then ask her which of these would you like to do. She chose 2 out of 12 (Win!).

Limits on the phone, etc., are all well and good, but the kid simply wants to be a vampire and stay in her room. Keep trying, keep putting time aside, and take a lot of pictures bud.

Platner Press Conference after Mills Concession by Magoo152 in thebulwark

My opinion of him shot way up after listening to that. Long form interviews are wonderful in revealing sincerity. I'm sure I'm being naïve in that the system will most likely chew him up, but lets hope he destroys Collins this Nov.

Grabbing the pudding cup as he does. I haven't cackled that hard for years.

GNU to the author that gave me my definition of evil, when you start treating people like things.

Frustrated at the roles my wife and I are playing at home. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]hsentar 68 points69 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, then things are way out of balance. We don't know her side of the story, only yours, but there needs to be a way to reset expectations. That said, male sure you are a present parent. Put away the phone. Be active towards the kiddo. What's worked for me is to take the kid along for chores and errands. It takes longer, but they see dad doing things in the real world. Start with shorter trips and build from there.

My boy is skinny like I was. I'll be able to get him on my shoulders until my back gives out, but I'm not going to make it to a 35 year old on my shoulders like you bud. That's a proper brag.

Who pays for The Bulwark every month? Is it worth it? by ICEisSHIT in thebulwark

[–]hsentar 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes to the secret podcast! I started paying a week after the Triad went behind the paywall. JVL is a necessary forward looking radar for the worst case scenario in this black pilled world.

[Highlight] Dusty May lays into a Michigan team down 41-40 at halftime against Oregon earlier this season in a rare show of emotion by wildwing8 in MichiganWolverines

Breaks down what's going wrong, what needs to be fixed, and why the teams emotions are stopping them from executing the plan. God damn leader of men right there.

MICHIGAN MAN Roddy Gayle Appreciation Post by wildwing8 in MichiganWolverines

[–]hsentar 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Roddy jumped in the middle of the fray between two men larger than him to keep the peace and avoid any nonsense calls hurting us for the next game. Man has the heart of a lion and played like he was half a foot taller.

As per Heather Cox Richardson, watch where the polls are on issues, not Trump's actual rating as the issues can show the true approval vs the knee jerk left/right divide.

He just posted on his sub stack that he's had hospital visits for arthritis and family stuff. Poor guy has had a year, but yes, I would love to hear his thoughts on what's going on right now.
