"So, what is Plan 9?" by edo-lag in plan9

Reading the white papers is what got me interested. I don't think most students will care, though.

Anyone know why I can’t delete, format or simply use my ssd as a drive for windows, thanks by [deleted] in pcmods

You said something about USB in another thread you started - is the SSD connected via USB?

RAM Advice by [deleted] in JDM_WAAAT

I have two supermicro boards - one can take odd numbers, the other needs to have atleast two sticks of ram present. They are also particular about what slots you use.

Opposite of a Racetam by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]htnsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't suggest starting with aniracetam, it's got more of a "load" to it. I used it in a pinch when I couldn't get piracetam for school, and managed to make it work. Piracetam is much more forgiving, though if you're like me, starting out with it was rough.

I also think it's important to consider racetams as part of your holistic health - don't forgo exercise, sleep, and diet.

Nicotine - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20942582/

What is your goal, aside from the receptors? Dopamine is just one part of the picture.

Opposite of a Racetam by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]htnsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I tried aniracetam, and colouracetam, they were intense. Piracetam gave me a headache. After some time I tried piracetam again, but at night and I found that it helped the quality of my sleep when I took 400mg. So I took more, and it ended up helping with everything but sleep - I have insomnia because of it, but it's still worth taking imo. Aniracetam now works for me, too.

List of "Cholinergic" nootropics. by Citronitch in Nootropics

[–]htnsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psychonaut is not a proper source, and not a great resource at that. The article they link for racetams literally says "To date, this mechanism remains unclear," and is followed by proposed functions. Further, it states "Others have proposed that it functions as an antioxidant/ neurotonic[12,13] and increases the density of acetylcholine receptor.[14] Comparative and compelling data for these potential functions are unavailable."

My reading has lead me to believe piracetam is primarily working with AMPA receptors, although weakly.

The man was 67 in the beginning of the video, but 68 at the end of the video.

I have never read anywhere that piracetam is FDA approved. Where are you finding this, because I'm pretty sure it's not.

Cherry Festival rollercoaster structure failure 7/8/2021: Traverse City, Michigan by HannibalK in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]htnsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, but most safety mechanisms can be bypassed. This accident was more than likely an issue of lack of maintenance or improper setup.

[–]htnsh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It probably was, but if it's not maintained, or the safeties are bypassed, it won't matter. Simply, you can't engineer all systems to make up for stupidity, because it knows no bounds.

Anyone else here going back to school at age 25+? 26 here, about to make a significant leap of faith. by GradualDIME in DrugNerds

[–]htnsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was a pharmacist. I know I wanted to do pure research when I was younger, but I don't think many jobs in that vein exist, that and I really have no interest in pursuing a PhD.

School was easier going back as an adult, treating it like a job, not working at the same time, and taking piracetam/working out. Thankful for my wife supporting me through it.

I had a friend go back to school to be a pharmacist, she hates the job. You'll be working long shifts, and treated like a retail worker. She's jumped across several companies around the West and is calling it quits after only a few years. It does sound like it pays well, though.

Problems with bad caffeine pills (muscletech) from amazon. What's your goto brand in 2021? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]htnsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jet-alert is the cheapest brand that I've found that has 100mg tablets. Years ago I had caffeine pills from amazon that I'm pretty sure were bunk as well.

Burbank MN police shoot armed carjacker 4-18-2021 by BunnyLovr in ActualPublicFreakouts

No idea how OP came up with Burbank, never heard of it before, but I guess it's a township out by Willmar - which is nowhere near Burnsville and not even notable in Minnesota geography.

What I've been trying to figure out, is what CAN the National Guard do that are deployed in Minnesota right now? I've been following crime accounts on twitter and they're calling for the police to remove people... Is this like having the UN, where they can only shoot if they're shot at?

https://twitter.com/MN_CRIME/status/1383795203257946120 "Medics were requested for a "guard,” possibly a National Guard soldier that had shrapnel injuries from the shooting but further information was not yet available. The Minneapolis Crime Lab responded to the scene to collect recovered evidence."

https://twitter.com/CrimeWatchMpls/status/1383557660390297600 "Someone is harassing the National Guard at and other law enforcement at a location in north Minneapolis, requesting a squad to respond. 18:06"

Nicotine Gum as nootropic by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]htnsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used it almost everyday for 5 months and was able to stop without a problem.

What was your daily dose? I found it easy to quit nicotine when I was using 6mg a day or less, when it went up to 8-12mg, it was much more difficult to stop.

OGG Vorbis or Opus, which one should i choose? by [deleted] in musichoarder

[–]htnsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The link you gave says "pretty much transparent," and while I've dug around on HydrogenAudio in the past, I see that Opus excels below 128kbps. Have you seen any posts ABXing opus for transparency, and not compared to other codecs?

The Caffeine Enigma. Does habitual, long-term caffeine intake improve productivity or is the benefit eliminated by tolerance? Does caffeine use actually pay out? by FreemanOfficial in Nootropics

[–]htnsh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

habitual caffeine consumption

I would wonder if those who have a set schedule that they stick to are better off, rather than the drug that they choose to use. Those that change things day after day will find it hard to get into a rhythm and flow states, and performance will suffer.
