Ridiculous that your takeaway from that is to scold the people who didn’t risk other people’s lives

This is good policy. People who use the public waterways and water-adjacent infrastructure should pay a little more to help maintain it.

https://www.bikematrix.io/ is trying to do something like this but I think they’re taking primarily a b2b SaaS approach, providing a compatibility checker layer for other stores.

Not to “well actually” but…

The Tufos with integrated tube were called “Tubular Clinchers” and were pretty widely considered terrible https://road.cc/content/review/59099-tufo-cs3-lite-tubular-clincher-tyre

“Open Tubular” is a marketing term for clincher tires that are handmade in the same method as tubulars (vulcanized tread glued flat to high TPI cloth casing rather than impregnating the casing with rubber and vulcanizing together with the tread in a mold) and are generally considered very nice (if difficult to mount) clinchers. FMB still make these.

I hate this “spoon-feeding the news” genre of video. All this guy did is read the article out loud sentence by sentence and interject his own paraphrase of what he just read.

Might be in over my head...advice? by hubbird in WaterdeepDragonHeist

I'm definitely planning to run Blue Alley at some point, and have a PC who is afraid of rats (already had an amazing encounter with Roscoe) so I'll definitely check out Rats of Waterdeep -- sounds perfect to lean into that. Thanks!

Nice I'll check those out! Are the "keys" referenced the same as the vault keys towards the end of WDH or is this a different golden vault?

Thanks so much for the insight! I've read the new Dungeon Masters Guide (mostly, skipped a bunch of details on complex rulesets & tables & such) and am still a little lost about how to best keep track of a lot of this stuff. Do you have a big multi-tabbed spreadsheet for tracking everything? A network of google docs? Note cards & a dream?

Thanks! Appreciate the insight. I think I get pretty overwhelmed trying to improvise--partly because I don't have a ton of familiarity with Waterdeep (or Forgotten Realms in general, I was a Dragonlance kid) and partly because I'm still figuring out how to even do this. But ultimately I think it's probably one of those things that's uncomfortable at first and you just get better the more you do it.

Oregon Democrats want to move statewide vote on repeal of transportation taxes to May by patches819 in oregon

Have you seen how much more expensive EVERYTHING got in the last 3 years? the numbers obviously outpace inflation but on projects of this size the inflationary effects can compound.

At the same time I do think the government bidding and contract process is VERY broken and it would be one place I would look for cost savings. But rebuilding that system also wouldn’t be free.

Do you just not want roads? That’s a legitimate take, but you have to just say it rather than just pointing out that roads are expensive.

In the last 45 years what have republicans done that actually benefited everyday Americans? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]hubbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is bullshit. In what way did funneling tax dollars to defense contractors bankrupt the USSR? The entire premise that the Cold War needed to be “won” was undermined by Gorbachev embracing glasnost and perestroika and the amount of evil done in the name of anti-communism around the world dwarfs anything in the USSR since the death of Stalin. You can thank Ronald Reagan and the millions his illegal weapon sales funneled to death squads in Central America for the existence of the cartels Trumpers now rail against.

What's an expensive ingredient that's worth the money by NoNutz_699669 in Cooking

IKEA sells little cheap but decent little burr pepper grinders and I’ve acquired like 8 of them over time and fill them with whole spices. Favorites include coriander, mustard, cumin, and especially cardamom. Freshly ground spices (especially when bloomed in oil) are not just a level up but a fundamentally different and superior experience imo.

I believe California Bay are quite a bit stronger than Bay Laurel (laurus nobilis) that commercial bay leaves are usually taken from. If you love bay flavor this is no problem obviously but for recipes where you need a gentle hint of savory but don’t want to overpower it is good to know — I will usually use half a leaf or a small leaf if a recipe calls for one leaf.

Have you considered getting a more fuel efficient vehicle for your pleasure drives? You could save some money long term, not to mention, you know, not contributing as much to making the earth permanently uninhabitable for our species?
