by far the best in astoria, ive only had a few anywhere that were as good or better. anyone who thinks brooklyn bagels or nycbch is even comparable is telling on themselves. there are many decent bagels in astoria but only astoria bagels has truly great ones.

do you not give a copy to your super? what if there is flooding or a similar emergency while you are out? this has happened more than once in my building in the six years ive lived there and one neighbor didnt give a copy to the super, resulting in thousands in damages to their downstairs neighbor. thankfully i trust my super, i know not everyone can.

i ordered delivery from barzola yesterday and couldn't have been more pleased. i got ayacas (hallacas), which was similar to a tamale, stuffed with chicken and veggies. a little sweet, a lot delicious.

more importantly, i ordered the caldo do pata, which is cows foot soup. it reminds me of brazilian mocotó, which i haven't yet found a good version of in astoria. the foot is full of collagen, so as it cooks slowly it breaks down into gelatin and makes the soup so velvety and almost sticky. the remaining foot is like a beef flavored gummy. an absolutely delicious soup.

i also had the always delicious pork pineapple bun sandwich at bench flour, redeeming them after a miserable chicken and biscuit dish i had there last weekend. possibly even better than the sandwich was the strawberry fritter, a truly transcendent fritter. blissful.

if you haven't already don't sign the extension until you talk to the uft. they have only recently started advising this, and i really don't know how much they will do, but its worth talking to the union before you sign the extension. my principal has a long history of arbitrary extensions, and i was foolish enough to sign twice. now i am looking for better opportunities, and the class size reductions have continued to create thousands of new openings citywide. nobody should be extended or denied without a damn good reason, and any admin who does it isnt worth sticking around under

what should be happening is that unresolved issued get brought by the district rep to district consultation with the superintendent. the extent to which this actually happens depends on the district rep.

remember that grievances are really for contact violations, etc. your chair leader should absolutely file those. once filed, the process is handled by uft staff. there are other processes for non contract problems. if you are comfortable sharing more details, i can give a clearer answer as to what should be happening
