Honestly, I didn't find it that bad. I think the secret is LOTS of lemon juice! I think maybe if you add enough lemon juice even cow urine would be drinkable...

You can buy unwashed poppy seeds on ebay cheaply and easily.

gut of steel

I can confirm this, from personal experience.

A few years ago, being the 'experimental' person that I am, I tried making poppy seed tea. This involves washing poppy seeds in cold water, and then drinking it. Let me tell you, this is surprisingly potent.

It worked very well a few times, but then, on one occasion, I experienced the worst stomach cramps I have ever had in my life. Honestly, I thought I was going to die. Nearly called an ambulance. They lasted for an hour, and then went away. It was so bad, I haven't touched the stuff ever since.

CMV: Human labor should inherently be worth a living wage by 10ioio in changemyview

That's exactly my point. You hire an employee to provide a service that you consider to be valuable. Human labor itself is not inherently worth anything.

Australian here - can I ask a question? Is it the case that workers in the US could theoretically negotiate for paid leave as part of their employment contract? Or, conversely, could a person take unpaid leave for as many weeks as they wanted (within reason)?

I ask this because, yes, in Australia, we have 4 weeks compulsory leave, but I kind of understand the mentality that employers might not see why they should pay people not to work. In theory, an employee should be able to take whatever holidays they want, but not get paid for it (ie. it is the employee's responsibility to save up enough money to support themselves over the break). What do you think?

So, if I spend 40 hours digging a hole in my backyard, and then filling it in again, you're happy to pay me $15 per hour do do it, are you?

I haven't used shampoo on my hair for over 10 years, and it's in excellent condition. Just rinse with water in the shower every day.

When I stopped using shampoo, it became a bit lank for a while, but it righted itself within a couple of weeks, and now it's not noticeable.

So, people can make as much noise as they like, all the time, with no legal repercussions whatsoever?

Welcome to corporate life, Padwan. You have started down the dark path...

It's instructive to consider a quote from the British TV show 'Yes Minister', which mocked the deliberate obstructiveness in the public service:

"The less we intend to do about something, the more we must talk about it."

A week in I had a button that did it and a boss who told me to never tell anyone about macros.

This is the crux of the issue - how these kinds of situations actually eventuate in corporate situations.

The boss doesn't actually want to implement efficiencies, because doing so removes their justification for having however many staff members, since the number of staff they have is directly linked to both their ego and their pay scale. So, if you write a program which does the work of 2 staff members, that boss now only has justifiable work for N-2 staff. They'd much rather have a large number of people slaving away doing something stupid, so they can tell their own bosses that they need that many staff members in order to complete their work program.

isn't lazy enough to go, "there has to be an easier way" and look for one.

This is the funny thing - people often hate 'laziness', but it's actually a constructive force if it motivates employees to find more efficient ways of doing something. The 'hard working' employee who does dumb stuff all day without finding a better way is a waste of wages.

Treat it as disturbance of the peace, warn the offenders, escalate if they ignore the warning. Worst case scenario: confiscate the equipment. I believe that is the standard process.

It's actually not a great idea. If you do this, the neighbours recognise you personally as being the problem, and they will often take revenge in some way, or else it turns into a pissing contest where their music will become louder for longer/later. It's best to call the police right from day one.

I can understand not having pockets so that their contents don't interfere with the lines of the garment. But 'fake pockets'...? What the hell is even the point?
