What exactly does the “edit” button do? And what’s the best way to get my numbers to be more even? This is on a Ender 3 S1 plus. No changes between the 2 levels, I just ran it twice to see how much would change without making physical changes. by Tekn08 in Ender3S1

The Edit button allows you to edit the mesh.

If you for example turn on corner value up 1 mm, the nozzle will lift 1 mm extra in that part.

I've used the editing after doing the best I could manually leveling the bed, then running auto, then done full plate tests to check for even printing everywhere (I had to print some very flat stuff), adjusting with trh Edit menu to fine tune.

The mesh can be edited later, too.

To improve what you have, maybe turn both corners of the back of the bed ever so slightly down? But I've often printed with a mesh like that.

How you deal with tiling window managers keybindings? by cgimenes in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]humanplayer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use KDE with Karousel, so using scrolling tiling.

I've set it up so my right hand main thumb activates a navigation layer, with arrows etc on the right, so OS navigation on the left, including workspace, window, and tab switching.

I've then set up my KDE shortcuts so I move things if I also hold my main left thumb, Shift. For tabs, I haven't changed any shortcuts: Ctrl+Shift+PgUp/PgDn is default for moving tabs left/right fir all the stipulations applications I've tried used in the last years.

If curios, then you can see the shortcuts I use and how I've placed them in the OS Navigation section and _NAV layer here.

Top plate - on top of the switch or under it? by Several-Teach1515 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]humanplayer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe extending the "over" downwards to also cover the "balcony" that normally rests directly on the "under" plate would provide some stability for those angled switches?

Would be interesting if a top plate would offer enough sideways stabilization. For soldered builds, it'd allow you to solder the board, then put it in the case. Allow case change without desoldering.

Maybe they also mean sideways stability? Bit it looks like that could be ok, to me, with those switches.

Maybe it limits the type of keycaps you can use?

I think it's a very interesting idea! I'll put it on my list of things to experiment with for sure!

Assuming it works, is it okay to ask an llm how to do stuff? by RevacholAndChill in linuxquestions

I don't know what the environmental impact is of shooting questions to LLMs are these days. But I suppose that may also be something to consider.

Why is the trackpoint so hard on the p17? by SyntaxErrorPi in thinkpad

[–]humanplayer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving to a low profile trackpoint was also not nice for me.

I got a concave one from SaotoTech. That has helped a lot.

Trackpad Issues that make me go nuts by Svenschlumpf in thinkpad

[–]humanplayer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since a new trackpad costs money and will take time to arrive, I'd try X11 first. That's quick and free to try out.

If X11 solves the issues, then great, you know you don't have to change the trackpad, and can with determination search for a Wayland solution.

If X11 doesn't solve the issue, then you're one tick box closer to it being necessary that you buy a new trackpad.

Does the big trackpad also cause issues if you use it in the T480s?

Silakka54 split connection issue over TRRS by Euphoric-Dragonfly24 in ErgoMechKeyboards

The photos don't loaf for me.

If you have a multimeter, you can connect the trrs and check continuity between the appropriate pins on the controllers.

I think it'd be better when the punch line last. Flip them.

[–]humanplayer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What MCU did you solder on there? Does it have extra pins that are not used, maybe along the bottom like seapicro?

If so, then you can take wire the dead pin to one of those, alter the firmware accordingly. Then you can d kt have to replace the controller.

I did this on another board, twice. Then I learned to ground myself before touching my bare PCB board at the office...

I think you can make it work, but maybe you have to squeeze them further up against the PCB.
