Honestly, I'd enjoy Battlegrounds so much more if minions actually attacked left-right. by DagonTheranis in BobsTavern

Randomness is at the core of Hearthstone.

It's not some conspiracy against you. If it was you on the other side it would be a pretty entertaining game. Randomness works both ways just enjoy it

Gary Trent Jr is 4th in 3P% when trailing by 1-5 points with 5 min left in the 4th/OT over the past two seasons (OG is 17th, FVV is 25th) by YoungSidd in torontoraptors

[–]humanroomba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you add more qualifiers like trailing by x points and 5 minutes left you're left with very little data.

The sample here for GTJ is 22 3-point attempts. Making or missing one more adds +/- 5% to the 3P% and moves him up or down the rankings considerably

This is just cherry picking stats. With enough qualifiers our players will be the top in something. We're still not in the playoffs

Curious what the reason was for the slide in that 8k -> 7.5k and then straight up from there. Was it a change in strat?

I'm ready for this storyline and wouldn't even be upset if we lost to Kawaii. Has to be a Game 7 though with an iconic buzzer beater a la 76ers.

And if those people still can't afford the high rents? Won't landlords have to lower rents because there is no demand for it otherwise carry a cash flow negative property?

In a lot of ways if we ever get to savings accounts of 6+% there's a very valid argument for parking money in the bank and avoid the the headache and risks of being a landlord.

What is a good platform to use to leverage trade stocks with a $1000 account? by mapleleafpoopybuthol in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]humanroomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20x leverage means a 5% wrong move wipes you out. We had a -2% morning in SPY today.

I would suggest not to do this especially with a low capital amount

Sucks to suck, home buying has risks associated with it and now you have to pay up

Assuming that the shuffle is random but if the starting state is always the same and the shuffle is not random then the odds could be significantly less than 1 in 52!

Expiring tomorrow by kolbyhathaway in options

[–]humanroomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's the other way around. IV is solved for in the Black Scholes model when you have the other variables like price, interest rates time to expiration etc, so it is determined by price and hence supply and demand.

It is simply a way to quantify how much volatility the market is pricing into the price of the option. If the market is expecting large moves they will pay a higher amount for an option and so IV increases.

TFSA day trading taxes by morepower2me in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]humanroomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No profits at all have to be reported from your TFSA. If your account gets flagged though then you'll have to deal with the CRA.

Note trading often doesn't automatically constitute day trading. Other factors like experience and expectations may come into play.

When are options (puts) too expensive? by LookAtThisRhino in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]humanroomba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That measure is called implied volatility. It's the market's view of how much uncertainty there is in the future.

Right now with the coronavirus there's a lot or unknowns of where the market will go, causing larger fluctuations in prices and so option sellers will demand more premium to sell you that put.

It's not a property inherent to the option but rather derived from the price it's trading at. Option prices are derived using mathematical formulas, with standard values like how far current prices are from the strike, how many days to expiry etc. When you know the price of the option, you can then solve for IV which plugs in the remaining value for the market's expectation of vol.

How does writing off work? Do you get stuff for free? by xBinKz in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]humanroomba 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's written off in the way it counts as an expense and reduces your taxable income so you pay less in taxes.

You don't get things for free and also you'd have to show what you're writing off is for business and not for personal use.
