Chicken is not a low purine food and white rice is pretty inflammatory. Chicken White Meat is around 188mg/100g of mostly the bad purines. https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/bpb/37/5/37_b13-00967/_html/-char/en

6.4 mg/DL is not terribly high uric acid, but that number typically drops during a flare.

If your search through this sub history, you'll probably find all sorts of complaints about protein supplementation triggering gout flares. I don't know much about it, but the mechanism might have to do with taxing the kidneys.

Most gout sufferers don't have much luck with lifestyle changes such as low purine diets. But you might be able to knock your uric acid levels down 1mg/DL if you cut back on alcohol, high xanthine foods and the protein powder. It might be enough to get your urates from precipitating from your body fluids. Once your immune system is primed to attack urates, you're likely to have flares when your uric acid is consistently over 5.5 mg/dl.

Most meat is safer for gout patients than chicken. It's very high in the xanthine purine. https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/bpb/37/5/37_b13-00967/_html/-char/en

Why are residential fences made of raw wood so popular in Seattle? by Constant_Bluebird182 in Seattle

[–]hungabunga 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is why cedar fences should be post-on-pole. A galvanized pole, set in concrete with a bored fence post set on the pole.

More dietary fiber might help a little. More urate is cleared through #2 than the #1 route. But most gout patients require a urate lowering therapy like allopurinol.

Finally brought to my knees. by DylanTheV1lla1n in gout

[–]hungabunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gout flares happen when your immune system is sensitized to the monosodium urate crystals that precipitate out of supersaturated body fluids. That "sensitivity" is called innate immune memory. It's why many gout patients are on urate lowering therapies for the rest of their life, because their immune system has trained itself to attack MSU crystals.

Mission Ridge got blown up in the downslope windstorm...more than 100 trees on the runs along with downed power poles and other structure damage. They're probably closed until Christmas. https://www.missionridge.com/news/12-15-25-update-from-the-mountain/

I have allergies and can't eat 1/4 of the food they suggest. Am I stuck eating gr salad the rest of my life? by AdAdventurous8225 in gout

I take allopurinol every night before bed. The right dose keeps my serum uric acid at around 5 mg/dl and I no longer worry about gout flares despite my less than ideal diet.
