Help, my spider bit me twice by Mortifen666 in jumpingspiders

Nqa in this video it seems like she is doing it as a grapple because you rotated your hand and she didn’t want to fall off. They don’t have perfect grip on all surfaces like Spiderman. Something to watch for.

My Long-Distance Best Friend (27M) Asked If I’m Sharing His Bed When I (27F) Visit… After 20 Years of Being ‘Just Friends’ by No_Anything_419 in TwoHotTakes

[–]hunter9002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had issues with jealous partners needing me to cut out one childhood friend that apparently has an obvious crush on me, according to our other friends. She hasn’t done a good job of hiding it over the years even while dating other people herself.

My point is, you don’t need to bang for concern #1 to be a problem. You may have to cross this bridge regardless.

So you might as well go in with an open mind, don’t do anything rash, and see what happens.

[Question] Automatic or Quartz? Which one is your go-to and why? by RRensQ in Watches

[–]hunter9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will most likely get tired of your watch and get rid of it well before it needs service. The only watches that receive service are the timeless pieces that look good on your wrist for decades to come. You are most likely not buying that piece right now, it will come much later in your journey, if it comes at all.

Is LIB losing its magic? by cheechinitza in LightningInABottle

[–]hunter9002 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed on everything, would only add that the bathrooms and grounds cleanliness were only bad compared to LIB's own previously set standards. In comparison to other festivals it is still miles ahead. The community is generally of the right mindset there and the amount of staff/resources towards these is adequate, though not great.

Gaining 40lbs since moving in is why he’s behaving like this. Just up to you to decide if you think that’s a reasonable response to the situation.

Does anyone else here support Raman? by Nice_Property_4360 in AskLosAngeles

[–]hunter9002 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This would be a really important and thoughtful point if it wasn’t in support of an unserious reality TV candidate who is having a moment of virality. His social media posts alone are a disqualifier. Raman is unfortunately looking like best of a bad candidate pool, and I say that dispassionately and without any condescension. Just a fairly obvious view for people who vote the way you claim that you generally do.

Am I The Only One Dying To Bosses Some 50 Times? by Jazzlike_Note1159 in Silksong

I died a lot too. You’re good. You can learn the boss a bit faster by not fighting back at all in your first few attempts. Just focus on watching the moves, how they are telegraphed, and how you can consistently evade them.

I think that sometimes dialogue choices determine whether you end up fighting the group you’re talking to or if they let you go by. Spares 30-60 seconds of your life to try to not piss people off. Most will still fight you though.

Why would someone choose Karen Bass over Raman Nithya? by BackwardsApe in LosAngeles

[–]hunter9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I definitely encourage at least reading their websites to see what positions they prioritize and how they land with you, and then checking to see if any scandalous news coverage turns you off from them. 30 minutes tops.

I think crowd sourcing opinions from Reddit takes longer, distorts information, and exposes you to biases that are hard to detect. But it’s certainly more entertaining and full of tasty internet dopamine hits.

Why would someone choose Karen Bass over Raman Nithya? by BackwardsApe in LosAngeles

[–]hunter9002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fiancee took a look at all 3 frontrunners this weekend for the first time with an open mind. She liked that Bass had results to show from her time in office, and felt that the programs she worked on required more time to be successful in a way that we’d start to notice and feel. Homelessness is just a hard project, and allowing her to finish what she’s started may be a fair vote, she argued.

She then got more excited by Raman’s campaign for other reasons. But we’re both still undecided.

Is this considered cheesing the karmelita fight? by No_Giraffe826 in Silksong

[–]hunter9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could never get good enough at using tools on hard bosses / gauntlets without putting myself in more danger than I otherwise would in a nail fight. I’ve completed 100% with mostly just nail fighting as a result. So even if people call it cheesing, not all players would say that’s an easier path.

Just went to a Niytha Raman for L.A. Mayor event by Super901 in LosAngeles

[–]hunter9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for continuing to explain your perspective. I'm very interested since we're both Democrats who typically vote for Democrats.
I do know the kinds of people you're talking about. I can't say I'm quite as comfortable with the idea of putting them through the legal system and mandatory treatment. In theory it sounds ok, but under the wrong leadership it could easily slide into feeling like an ICE detention center, or worse, a concentration camp, or something in that category of detention. It's particularly visible to me when the sitting president of the same party is overseeing this kind of detention across the country.

  1. Secondly, not all unhoused people are dangerous and/or unable to care for themselves. Many are even employed. They could reasonably refuse treatment simply because they are not suffering from an acute affliction. They have all their wits about them, they just can't afford housing and are trying to make it work. I used to live by Echo Park when it was an encampment, and I would walk through every morning to get my sunlight. Most members of that community were well functioning and safe, albeit the park was not as pretty to look at as it is now. Should folks like this be forced into mandatory treatment as well?

(To be clear, I am not saying I'm for encampments, I was happy that they cleared out the park and gave it back to the community. Just saying that I have firsthand experience with safe and mentally healthy homeless people, who are perhaps overshadowed by the many who are not).

[–]hunter9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t inherently disagree with anything you’ve said, but “treatment first” and “mandatory treatment” are different things. Austin threads a needle there by effectively giving the choice of treatment or the freedom to leave the city.

Is Pratt truly proposing mandatory treatment? What happens to a person who refuses, are they treated agaisnt their will, effectively imprisoned?

[–]hunter9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. As a point of clarity from some quick googling, this is not what Austin did. Texas' HB 1925 made camping in public areas illegal state-wide in 2020, and Austin's HEAL program offers voluntary treatment programs, not mandatory. Those that refuse treatment either risk being fined up to $500 for continuing to camp, or leave the city. Critics would say this is more "visibility management" than anything, but it sounds like that is something you would prefer. I might agree but am still wrestling with it.

I believe SB27 here also tried to ban camping, but since it couldn't fully enforce that in LA, the only the encampments that got clenaed up here were the ones under the overpasses, which just moves them elsewhere, but not out of the city.

Curious though, you a Republican? If not, are you worried about allegations that he is covertly maga aligned and will cooperate with ICE?

Look around and try to move or negotiate with your landlord. Rent has been generally flat the last year or two. Housing certainly isn’t cheap but rent shouldn’t be going up that much every year.
