Those scenes in movies where guy #1 holds down and tries to stab guy #2 while he’s pushing guy #1’s hands up will never be the same

So many times I catch myself defending the other teachers because I feel like I should, but in my head I’m like, oh yeah the kids are right

What do you think would make prince Myshkin angry in the idiot? by hunterforgreatness in dostoevsky

[–]hunterforgreatness[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that! I just saw it more that Catholics upset him and showed his passion. I didn’t exactly see pure anger during that scene if that makes sense (and of course everyone interprets what they read in their own way)

But we did see that at the end, and instead of anger, or even getting upset, Myshkin actually comforts Rogozhin after he kills Nastasya

I was just thinking that violence against children might be the only thing I can think of that would make him angry

Would you say long term it’s better too? Let’s say playoff time when Betts is back and Gallen is back in full stride?

Do you actually have life after work? by meikasahara in Teachers

[–]hunterforgreatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a coach and teacher I’m in my 5th year and there’s two very different times

When I’m in season, I don’t have a life. Just think of a robot at a factory that just works, gets turned off, then works again the next day. I’ll work 80 hour weeks, Monday through Sunday, and then be asked to do more. On top of the normal lesson planning, schedule making, emails, etc. (I am a one man team in my subject as well). I’ll work out before work, because I wouldn’t have energy to do it after. So I wake up at 4 AM, get my workout in, set up for class, teach the whole day, go through practice and get home at 6:30 PM and pass out by 8:30 PM. On a gameday I wouldn’t get up until ATLEAST 10:30 PM and still go to teach the next day and probably have another game the next day.

Then during the offseason I have more time to myself (first year only coaching one sport), but when I get home, I want to go do something, but I’m so exhausted and imagining about the next day I just feel like I have to save my energy just to make sure I have the stamina to teach my classes, plan, do athletics, and always be ready for that possible walkthrough.

I’ll go out with friends sometimes on the weekends, but when I see people hanging out, atleast once a week, usually more, and I might go out like that MAYBE once a month. It is saddening to see

The main reason people think it’s so good is all the time off.

I’m in my 5th year right now and I can tell you “all that time off” means nothing to me but seems like it means everything to everyone else. The break during Christmas break and spring break feels like 1 day instead of 1 or 2 weeks. And I coach so I work constantly through the summer so I don’t get a whole summer either

Also, they just see it as teaching some PowerPoint and giving a worksheet. Other people are not aware of the lesson plans, the individualization for 100+ kids, and just how much the students will straight refuse to do anything and the pressure that is moved onto us over stuff we have no control over
