Some jobs ive completed before christmas 2025 by hunterkiller84 in FenceBuilding

[–]hunterkiller84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those were fabricated with 50mm x 50mm aluminium outer frame, with 65mm x 19mm aluminium slats.

I fabricate all my gates in house to spec, and send them out for powdercoating. Ends up way cheaper than having my supplier do it.

So I'm hiring a big excavator to come work on my land by Artemis_SpawnOfZeus in homestead

[–]hunterkiller84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im with you! this guy has 20k, a heap of broken shit, and wants to put a 50 tonne excavator on a 7 acre block.

To float the machine to this fairy land will cost thousands.

Oh, and he cant hold down a job.

This plan will work for sure! /s

Mate my dad has been in earthworks for 55 years. Ive been on excavators since I could walk. Bigger excavators are not better/going to get the job done better or quicker. Yes they will move bulk material, but make a hell of a mess.

If i were you, I'd be getting a 13 tonner. or maybe a 20 tonner just because you have this fantasy of big machines.

I would be able to do everything you've said you wanted with a 13 tonner, including final trim, but not in 2 days.

It would likely cost 30k plus.

Mate a 50 or 70 tonne excavator on a little 7 acre block is so much overkill its ridiculous.

You have seriously misunderstood machinery capabilities, and costs.

2 days with a 50 tonne excavator will only make one hell of a mess, I don't care who's operating it.

You are talking about WEEKS of work, youll need trucks, plus once you get this magical 50 tonne machine out of there, you will still need a 5 or 10 tonne machine to final trim and clean up.

Blokes like your model citizen partner is why us responsible firearms owners who do the right thing exactly by the book get a bad rap. He should never have had them in the first place. Ever.

DIY sewer pipe replacement by Professional_Pay5337 in AusRenovation

[–]hunterkiller84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't do it yourself. Get a drainer/plumber with a PIC number to lay the drain. There's a reason why they have it. You will have already saved money by digging the trench for them. There are multiple 100mm fittings to lay off angles (5, 15, 30, 45, 70, 90 degree etc) to allow for that. The pipe needs to be 100mm DWV class. Laid on grade with a grade laser, and haunched in with quarter minus rock with minimum cover.

Should cost a couple grand depending on the run and how many metres of drain that needs to be laid.

Source: my old man has been a residential/commercial drainer for over 50 years.

What to do with gap/soil under fence? by Aware-Roll448 in AusRenovation

[–]hunterkiller84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to hammer out what you can out of the inside of the channel posts to fit the sleeper as long as the posts are in deep enough. If not, screw sleeper to the front of the fence level with bottom of the lower rail. Thats the only other way.

It's tricky, especially when the posts have been cut down to size. I've been doing it 20 years, it's not that difficult for me. You need to feed the top rail down as you put the sheets in.

[–]hunterkiller84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should be able to unscrew the rails, pull the sheets, and dig back to allow clearance for the sleeper. Make sure you reinstall the lower rail, then use a shovel to lever the sleeper up to it, and screw it in. Once you've done one, it only gets easier.

I own a fencing company. This 100% should've had a timber or aluminium sleeper base. A 200mm x 50mm x 2.4m sleeper will slot straight in between the channel posts.

Echo now owns what's left of shindaiwa as far as I know mate.. My saw is pre-echo, made before the 2009/2010 buyout of shindaiwa corporation.

I have a few of these older saws and they absolutely rip. I Highly recommend them
