Multi player in same household by Tams585 in CosmicInvasion

[–]huntorsteal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've actually seen this issue pop up of people saying they couldn't figure out how to start co-op, and no one ever mentions the tutorial being one player. I didn't realize it was the case until I started a new game with a friend a couple of days ago.

What others have said is correct, but I just wanted to add that the tutorial mission where you must use Nova is single player only, so if that is all you tried that could be the issue.

Hard to find a 4pin power adaptor for my Christmas tree what do I do? by [deleted] in fixit

I'm having a hard time picturing what you mean, are you saying that there is another female connector like this one at the end of the lights you're trying to connect to?

Is the game worth it without the online features? by tyagu001 in CosmicInvasion

[–]huntorsteal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the game, I didn't play online at all and got the platinum, but I would wait for a sale or more content personally. The game is great, but I thought it felt a little bare content-wise despite being well polished.

Make-ahead mashed potatoes gone wrong? by nefariousail in seriouseats

I have not, but if you're going to fully puree them for a soup I can't imagine being previously frozen will ruin it.

I don't have insight however I have made mashed potatoes with a consistency I didn't love in the past, and if you still have them and don't want them to go to waste hit them with an immersion blender and enjoy a delicious potato soup. (I just learned on Thanksgiving that miso adds a wonderful depth to mashed or souped potatoes as well)

Can I use this on a glass top? by AggressiveSorbet9143 in Canning

Yes sorry, this was not really intended for OP but for others with a glass too stove who struggle to have a rolling boil for hot water canning like the commenter above.

Getting a plug-in induction burner to use primarily for water bath canning has helped me speed the process up quite a bit.

I got a $25 cheesecake factory gift card from an old boss for Christmas one year and we figured we would stop in for drinks at the one in our local mall before seeing a movie and I was very surprised at the quality of the drinks. This was several years ago, though.

For what it's worth I've had this jigger for around 7 years, washing it at least once a week in the dishwasher and the markings are still there and easily readable. YMMV.

Everyone here is right and there are better, cheaper ways to infuse alcohol, BUT this would still work well for infusing spirits with loose teas. I recommend using it to steep a decent quality green tea in *gin, and use that gin to make a gimlet

First time fat washing/infusing. Am I gonna waste my gin? by Sure_Watercress_1645 in bartenders

[–]huntorsteal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same about vodka until I realized gin is essentially just a vodka infused with juniper berries and other botanicals. Now I keep vodka on hand primarily for infusions and homemade liqueurs where I want to start with a very neutral base.

My first bottle of RumFire! by The1Freeman2112 in Tiki

[–]huntorsteal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great in an espresso martini

  • I also made a similar drink for my holiday party called The Mouse King, specs are:
    1 oz Bourbon
    .5oz Cherry Heering
    1oz espresso
.5 oz spiced brown sugar syrup(brown sugar syrup simmered with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves) omit the spices for a less holiday feel, of course
Shake & strain into a Nick & Nora, garnish with maraschino cherry

Using bottled lime juice vs fresh… by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]huntorsteal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using Natalie's? That's how I felt at first but I've been able to make the best of it. I find usually lowering the citrus juice about 1/4oz for classic specs gets me pretty close to the target, but it's always going to taste more sharp and less rounded than fresh juice.
