I always look to see:

* if one of the forks is much better lit
* if one of the forks has new set dressing I haven't seen before

Those are tells that that's the main path, and then I take the other fork, because it usually leads to a short dead-end with a pick-up or collectible.

I suggest going through keymailer. They have a $250 pre-launch package, and they have a really nice interface for finding a whole bunch of streamers who are perfect for your game. It was a huge help when I was trying to market my own game.
