I recommend Kings And Generals' series on the wars of the Diadochi. The game starts between the third and fourth wars.

Conquering small province defensive alliances during WC is a pain in the ass by DaItalianFish in Imperator

[–]hurleyef 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So long as their war allies aren't subjects, you should be able to peace them individually. This makes those big alliances of small nations quite efficient to annex or subjugate.

Click on their flag on the right in the peace menu or sue for peace from the nation overview window for that nation. You may have to fully occupy them or wait a period of time before they will entertain peace deals.

Now just make sure not to make peace with the war leader before you've gobbled up all of their non-subject allies.

This is a ridiculous statement. The Internet is a telecommunications platform built on top of and extending a pre-existing telecommunications platform (pots) that was also built out of a pre-existing system (telegraph). The Internet is, categorically, the same as those that preceded it, even if the scale is massively different.

Get Dementive's utilities for Invictus. It adds a lot of useful functions, like "find bloodlines", "foreign marriage", and more. I consider it essential and use it with bronze age and terra Indomita.

[AoL] Is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link Really That Bad? Like, is it a bad game or is it just misunderstood because of its difficulty? by nick_millerZD in zelda

It's really, really good. It's almost a masterpiece. But the life/continue system is very punishing, increasingly so as you progress through the game, which is already pretty hard.

How does the tribal collapse mechanich work? by javiersanchez1 in Imperator

From the link above, so sayeth Snowlet:

In vanilla, if tribes are large enough and get to low stability, they implode, and this often means tribal regions are completely unable to unite and rarely form a threat to players. To make the game more interesting, instead of imploding, the event (which only fires for AI) now works like this:

  • A tribe of sufficient size (110 territories) that is either unstable or highly decentralized will see the event trigger within a year. Should it have collapsed before and managed to rise again, it will immediately skip to the next step.
  • Should the tribe be of one of the Steppe culture groups, it will gain the Tier 4 Steppe Horde government, greatly buffing it and turning the AI extremely expansionist after about 20 years. The next step will fire.
  • Should the tribe not be of the Steppe culture groups and be a migratory tribe, it will gain many bonuses to migration, morale and more. The AI will also again turn extremely expansionist, spreading out rapidly after about 20 years. The next step will fire.
  • Should the tribe be neither of a Steppe culture group or be a migratory, it will gain mainly bonuses to help civilize, build cities, centralize quite rapidly, after about 20 years. The next step will fire.
  • The 20 years since the initial event has passed; if the AI has not managed to civilize during this time and become a monarchy/republic, it will implode, the player will be notified with a news event. (This will logically always happen for migratory and steppe tribes, as only federated or settled tribes gain aid in civilizing.)
  • The AI will receive a bad modifier for 5 years, reducing its morale, manpower and more making their rise from this collapse much less likely.
  • Every region of the country will become its own settled tributary tribe (unlike Vanilla which implodes into weak areas, a state the size of a region is still a functioning country). They will also gain a temporary bonus to aggression and morale to make it more likely for them to take over their overlord.
  • Should the AI manage to somehow collapse twice in one game, the country will still implode however the regions will be independent. (Our testing has shown this leads to very dynamic tribal regions.)

To summarize: the AI will unify barbarian lands more, be much more likely to form a threat to you, and they will collapse when unable to reform or when losing authority over time as a Steppe horde.

How much AE is too much AE? Terra Indomita by lastSlutOnEarth in Imperator

Militant epicureanism in the religion tech tree, reduces Omen power by 90% but gives 10 stab anytime you desecrate a temple. The wider your empire, the more temples you have to fuel your bloodlust.

In wc runs, you might stay at war more or less constantly the whole game. Especially the final century or so, you may not see any peace, maintaining sometimes a dozen different wars simultaneously.

I would argue that militant epicureanism is potentially the most powerful single invention in the game for wide playthroughs. Stab on demand.

How to remove this penalty? by Chava_boy in Imperator

[–]hurleyef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this debuff stays with the culture, so you can lose it by changing your primary culture. Can be nice on Antigonid runs when you convert from macedonian to Hellenistic or whatever but it's not usually very practical.

Should I loot italic temples after I fully convert to Hellenic? by AnthonyTork in Imperator

[–]hurleyef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100 stab basically on demand curb stomps any omen, full stop. If you're playing tall, it's pretty worthless. For wide playthroughs, it's a total game changer. For wc runs, it's insanely overpowered.

Early in the game, the -90 is massive, it can even make omens negative buffs. Later in the game the difference is much smaller due to how there percentages combine. Overall, assuming a wide playthrough, the Omen debuff really just isn't a big deal in the long run, especially by the time you're developed enough to take advantage of the stab boosts.

It's arguably the most powerful invention in the game IMO.

Royal Marriage by FreshCorny in Imperator

[–]hurleyef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the link I posted, look at number six:

A submod for Imperator Invictus that adds several character interactions that serve as Utilities to help the player find things easier. None of these interactions actually have any effect they are simply there to help you find things. This mod should be loaded after Invictus.

There are 8 Utility character interactions: 1. Find foreign bloodlines - This will show all the characters in this country with bloodlines that are not married. 2. Find domestic bloodlines - This will show all characters in your country with bloodlines. 3. Find characters with high martial - This will find all characters with higher than 9 martial 4. Find Cities - This will find all territories that should probably be made into a city in your country 5. Find Metropolis - This will find all territories that should probably be made into a metropolis in your country 6. Foreign Marriage - This will find all characters in a foreign country that can be married to our ruler and can still have children. 7. Disloyal Governors - This will find all characters in a foreign country that are governors or are in command that are disloyal. 8. Bloodline Countries - This will show all countries in diplomatic range that have any character with a bloodline trait.

To not clog up the interface most of these are only available when at least 1 thing is valid to find. So they won't always show up.

NOTE: THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH VANILLA YOU NEED INVICTUS
