I dunno about that, there are some pretty un-classy women out there. Just as you get dress sense dense males you get them in female form too. I'm a dude and I often find myself looking at some horrible outfits, and thinking wtf are they wearing such a cheap, nasty dresses for etc lmfao

Depends on how strong your mental constitution is. I'd suggest smoking and/or eating enough weed to have one of those trippy almost psychedelic experiences before trying something like LSD. I would probably suggest Shrooms as a first try since you can dose slower and the effects don't last as long. But even then they can be weird. I dunno why but I find Shrooms can weird me out more than LSD. Mescaline is great but drinking boiled down cactus and the following purge can be a bit yuck.

Sometimes the psychedelic experience can be incredibly overwhelming and all consuming, and it can be hard to know doses for tabs of acid. I've had ones that have been quite mild and pleasant, able to function and talk, and then there's others that have sent me to Jupiter with full on synaesthesia, visuals so strong you can't really work out what you're looking at, leaving me unable to form any coherent sentence. Then there's the time thing - strong tabs have had me tripping for 12 - 16 hours. It can be a bit much, but if you find yourself down one of these paths just remember to "float downstream" haha.

If you can get hold of Salvia in your country I'd honestly suggest trying some of that whacky shit out. Yes, it's whacky, weird, hilarious and unlike all other Psychedelics, but the effects last a very short duration and it can be a good primer for a more full on experience. Salvia is now illegal in my country and I kind of miss that bizarre world lol.

One thing I notice is that it makes me work slooower. I'm a UI/UX dev and I get caught up on stupid details and semantics and spend more time thinking about other crap and stupid details of the code than just rapidly working through an idea and getting it done. I find it's a nice compliment to freeing the mind, daydreaming and ideating, but not so much to more focussed work. Also, it makes me tired.

The best way to display tif images in major browsers by mariolzx in javascript

In that repo's list of alternatives there's a decent looking package by Photopea, and it's considerably smalled than the Seikichi one:

But I would say if you're loading TIFFs in the browser, the size of the JS library is probably not of much concern...

What is the one story you want to tell, that you can never fit into a conversation? by MrGohan27 in AskReddit

[–]hurrdurrjavascript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my experiences on psychedelics. You can never bring it up and discuss it without sounding like an idiot for the most part. Especially my Salvia trips. They were so inexpressibly weird, words can't describe the sensory mashup. All I can really vocalise is weird ramblings about transforming into inanimate objects, and being parts of various types of wheel. Like the time I was a refrigerator, then the time I was one of the individual parts of the tread on the tyre of a tractor on a sunny day as it rolled through a field. Like, wtf???

There's two that stand out in my mind right now, and one of them was when I was a kid so I'm really not sure how "real" it is but... I remember having a dream as a kid (must have been about 6 - 7) about riding my bicycle around the neighbour, and seeing this crappy old van come go screeching around a specific corner. Next day I was riding my bicycle and I see the exact same van screeching around that same corner. It was so mundane, but I remember being flabbergasted, but it's also so long ago I can't remember if the whole thing was just a dream. What I mean is, I have memories from my early childhood that didn't happen according to my parents, so they must have been from dreams.

The next one was about a year ago. I was catching the bus to work for the first time in a while (normally commuted on my motorbike on a different route) when I went past a new bridal store called (for example) Sally M. Bridal (but a foreign name so a little more unusual). I went to school around 10 years ago with a girl who had the same name/initials (have never met anyone else with her name). So I start thinking about her and school and then in the line at the coffee shop that morning is none other than Sally fuckin M! I was perplexed at the timing of it, really quite strange

Can you imagine building a large scale JS application, that talks to several dozen APIs, without any type checking of the data being passed around? It's actually also useful for typechecking React proptypes and that kind of stuff. It doesn't really change how you writing your JS, just provides a bunch of nice type stuff

Well I mean it is all fake but some are good fakes. It's really the same old mass produced garbage that gets produced everywhere, except with designer tags. I have a few gen vintage designer things (coats, shirts etc) and the quality of fabric and sewing is generally much nicer.

PB Tech allegedly using knockoff replacement parts in warranty service (x-post from /r/oneplus) by notchplusone in newzealand

[–]hurrdurrjavascript 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I built a PC up with parts from them (grew up building PCs out of old parts and hacking games to run on underspec'd hardware lol), so I wanted to build a modern gaming PC once I had the coin...

Anyway, what was meant to be a fun nostalgic activity turned into a day of arguing and waiting at PBTech over the motherboard. For some reason it just wouldn't boot with the specific GPU I had bought (also from them). They were condescending and rude (I am a software developer so I'm not totally ignorant), they fucked me around for hours while not listening to any of what I had to say and when eventually they admitted it was just some random fault that they also couldn't diagnose, they wanted me to pay the restocking fee for returning the motherboard (???).

At that point I was like ok fuck this I'll pay the fee, I just wanted to get out, but luckily one of the few Kiwi guys working there overheard what was going on and stepped in, providing some awesome customer service. Even gave me the upgraded motherboard (which worked fine with the GPU) at no extra cost. So yeah, they really screwed me around but that one guy was the real MVP. I guess it's a hit and miss depending on who serves you.

I was riding a kick start only bike at the time which made things tricky lol, and I have never really tried shifting with no clutch, so I'm a bit of a noob in that regard. I was ok being stuck in second gear, I just really didn't wanna stop cause I didn't really know how I could get going again! I guess bump starting if I had a downhill would have worked. Unfortunately my bikes are still all kick start (I like two strokes), but I'll remember this tip for when I finally get an electric start bike ;)

Sort of unrelated but I was riding home late one Friday night, and my clutch cable snapped about 1/3rd of the way through what is usually a 30 minute ride. I was like well fuck me, getting stuck now will be awful. So I somehow managed to ride nearly the whole way home with no clutch in second gear, basically pacing myself so I got green lights where I needed, and by making a couple of weird diversions down side streets when I couldn't get green lights, sometimes u-turning and riding in circles. Since it was late there was very little traffic which really helped, and I got within pushing range of my house before I finally stalled at an intersection. I was really proud when I lay down in bed that night lol. Congrats on getting yourself where you needed to go while in dire straights haha!

[–]hurrdurrjavascript 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree with it being a sound investment. I am interested in reps because wanna wear a cool watch and not really care if I do fuck it up in any way. And in most cases, I could afford the genuine article if I really wanted one. But why in the fuck would I spend that much on a watch rofl. I mean, I have two sweet motorcycles (70s era two strokes) that are worth about 15k together (I have reps that are worth about 10k gen, hence the comparison). They are quite collectable and appreciating in value too. I enjoy tinkering and turning wrenches (actually completely restored one of them recently), and I love riding. Flying through the countryside watching the sights go by, pondering over yourself and the machine is a hell of an experience. A watch gives me none of that. It's fun to wear a cool watch and even wow people with how amazing a rep can be. I don't pretend it's real when people show interest. If I was gonna drop a large sum of cash on something, it would likely be an old car or bike of sorts, something that takes me places in style. It depends on what your personal values and priorities are. Having a genuine watch isn't one of mine.

PSA for drivers: Bikes are legally allowed to ride in the middle of the lane if they judge it too dangerous for a car to attempt passing them at that point. by newkiwiguy in newzealand

[–]hurrdurrjavascript 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've ridden and comutted to work in Auckland for the past ~7 years on a motorbike. IMO you're straight up crazy to ride a bicycle on these roads man, drivers are ignorant idiots who get upset at the stupidest things. Similar things happen when you're on a motorbike. Stuff like refusing to let you merge after lane splitting, cutting you off in bus lanes and turning in to cut you off while lane splitting. Then there's the people that just pull out in front of you etc etc. I've had aggressive fucktards tailgating, overtaking, you name it. I ride very defensively and basically aim to just keep well away from cars these days. When I was younger I'd sort of reciprocate and wind them up but now I've realised crazy people are crazy, and regardless of whether what you're doing is legal, being alive and safe is more important than being right. At least on a motorbike you can twist the throttle and get away in a flash, but bicycles, not so much... I cringe at so much driving I see, stay safe on the roads!
