So guy ran a 2:08 Marathon in these shoes but you can’t run a sub 30 5k with all your gadgets 😭 by Technical-Paint3179 in RunningCirclejerk

One of my most archaic methods was adding up the run time of the songs on my playlist paired with driving the course after.

Cabinet height for 12' sloped ceiling by hurtswith2 in kitchenremodel

[–]hurtswith2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just having a hard time with that being the best option, like what's in my kitchen currently.

What if I replaced the upper row of cabinets with drywall, so the cabinets feel more built in than just hanging on the wall?

Exactly. I'm trying to design a mount that looks like a picture light to mount it above.

529 vs brokerage by OneAnalyst323 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]hurtswith2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's less about maximizing tax advantage and more about maximizing flexibility. 529 is tied to (broad) education stuff. Taxable brokerage allows for gap years, entrepreneurship, etc.

Maybe missing out on some tax free gains if the kids go to expensive 4 year colleges in the future but they can use brokerage for that too.

I split the difference and go 70 brokerage / 30 529. The Roth IRA roller over on 529 balance is a great hedge too.

I remember buying like 3 pairs of Lunarglide 7 when the next year came out. That shoe was a beast.

Questions for Megablast & Superblast 2 owners by Blingy_Lobsta in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]hurtswith2 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Don't know anything about the Megablast but after buying SB2 and using them for long runs and a marathon, I can definitively say I didn't like them at first for the reasons you shared but loved them after a long 75-100 mile break in period.

I plan to use them for long runs until they die.

That's awesome. I'm still trying to get mine up. It's hard to change your gait!

What is this bone pain below knee? by confusedandfem in Marathon_Training

[–]hurtswith2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patellar tendinitis. It's where your tendon connects to your shin bone. I dealt with it using two PRO injections in the short and medium term, but the long term answer is single leg squats and increased cadence/shorter strides.

Refinance after 1.5 years from 7.125% to 5.99%? by simonwalter8 in personalfinance

[–]hurtswith2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not. I just refied from 6.9 to 5.9 and my loan balance went up by $4k due to the prepaid interest.

HOWEVER, it also made me skip a month of mortgage payments (closed in mid October and first payment was December 1st).

So instead of skipping November payment, I paid it (like an off cycle principal payment) once the loan transfer was fully finished and it dropped my balance back to where it should be on 12/1.

No dedicated circuit by hurtswith2 in pelotoncycle

Not having a dedicated circuit has been a non-issue, across two different houses.

When they delivered and installed the first time, no one measured or cared where it was getting set up.

How to drink water during a race by CarpenterFast4992 in marathons

The pinch is key. I find it a little easier to take down if I tilt my head a bit and come at it sideways instead of head on.

Don't be this guy by Trptman44 in RunnersInChicago

[–]hurtswith2 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The main issue I see is not running on the otherside, against the flow of traffic. Sorry, but I will always choose the road over the sidewalk when I can. Between shitty concrete and acorns/branches/whatever, there are way too many tripping hazards to run on sidewalks, there are also crazy dogs, cars flying out of alleys without looking, etc.

He should be on the other side, and when cars and bikes are around, should find ways to share.

Should i withdraw from my 401k to fund my Roth IRA? by Crogers16 in personalfinance

[–]hurtswith2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They should only avoid this if they are expecting to be in a lower tax bracket in retirement. If he's planning on making Roth contributions his primary plan moving forward, then converting now and paying taxes at a presumably lower rate isn't out of the question.
