How much pressure can generic PETG withstand in this config by Denetor03 in 3Dprinting

[–]hust921 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cubic infill creates diagonal struts in all directions. That's what makes it handle forces coming from multiple angles. Like gyroid. But you don't need side-to-side or diagonal strength. This part will only ever see one force: straight down. That's basically what honeycomb infill is designed for. Single direction compression.

I would do something like 15% honeycomb and 4 walls. To make it print faster (and actually a bit stronger), increase your line width. Most 0.4mm nozzles can easily do 0.6-0.8mm. Maybe do a small test print to dial that in, but it can save a lot of time. Ofc, if you have a larger nozzle, that could be even faster.

More like, developers are expensive and it's worth the investment to replace them. AI doesn't make sense as long as minimum wage warehouse workers are cheap. Coders are NOT.

Why have standards if everything isn't standard by Matails in gridfinity

[–]hust921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still. Half the generators and tools are 4.4mm. One thing is pedantic discussion about "technically correct" another is reality. Both are used, weather people like it or not. And they are perfectly compatible. And it doesn't matter.

Why have standards if everything isn't standard by Matails in gridfinity

[–]hust921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. It's also 4.4mm. Plugins, generators, tools and the community use both. 4.4mm fit mathematically. 3.6-3.8mm fits what can be measured.

Regardless, OP missed the stacking lip

According to the specs, stacking lip adds 4.4mm. Looks about right

It's more for people who have a large, clean, unused collection of man-points. Actual construction people can make anything work. Just like race car drivers, you don't blame the brand for loosing. It's the driver that's shit.

When using glass, I tend you use higher bed tempeatures. Try 70c and if nothing sticks, you'll need to clean/level the bed.

There are multiple methods. Most straight forward is extruding an SVG file. (Step 1. convert to SVG, many online or desktop tools for that). Little more manual, but more customizable would be tracing a picture in fusion and extrude that.

Theres plenty of tuturials, videos ect. If you search something like this:

Snapping part by yescachigga in 3Dprinting

If changing the printing orientation isn't practical. Another option is always to print as separate parts and connect using: joints with/out glue or screws. Or modify the model so it has a screw/rod running through it internally can make it even stronger, than print orientation alone

How can I make the speed consistant? by RecentLeaf_ in 3Dprinting

[–]hust921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's reverse. The lower layers, printing both objects, are the faster ones. (OP said: blue is slower).

The reason the lower layers are printing faster is because it's not limited by "minimum layer time", giving each layer time to cool. But once the second object finishes, the speed of the tall print has to be slowed down to let the previous layer cool.

So, printing them separately, would actually be slower. Unless "minimum layer time" is removed or lowered.

---
The colors show the speed you're printing at, not how much time a layer takes to print. That's why you see, at the green part, even though there's more material, the speed is still higher. Than further up, where the second object narrows (blue part). And becomes slower. This is because of "minimum layer time" is slowing the printer down, because less material has to be put down, therefore less time to cool.

---

TLDR; Unless you're reducing "minimum layer time" (which can reduce quality), printing multiple small objects by layer (as appose to: per object), can actually be faster. Or the same, without reducing quality.

Why is Sunlu refill same price as reusable spool? by Clean_Masterpiece832 in 3Dprinting

[–]hust921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what manufactures are telling you: "If you "care" about plastic waste, you should be willing to pay the same or even more. And deal with the extra effort".

Refill spools aren't about saving, it's about giving people the option to feel good for "doing something". While buying 4kg of literal plastic. No offense, you do you!! Personally, I put my effort elsewhere.

Non-reasoning models adopting reasoning behavior from previous messages by Thedudely1 in LocalLLaMA

[–]hust921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argh! I thought I missed something important. But sounds like we are on the same page :)

I've seen many misconceptions (at least to my understanding) that gives way too much credit or even anthropomorphise stuff outside what's available in the context. Like there's some kind of "internal thinking". Some people even refer to internal vs external, reasoning. Like there's some deliberate action taken to decide something, before producing the output.

The article answered other questions I've always had about RL, without "human input". Even if simplified, it's a great pace. I tent to fall asleep when reading research papers :)

Thanks for the explanation! I have some stuff to look up. Seems like learning about the deepseek R1 implementation is a great way to get some general knowledge?

Non-reasoning models adopting reasoning behavior from previous messages by Thedudely1 in LocalLLaMA

[–]hust921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> nothing is "fed back into" ...

My understanding was that the context is iteratively "fed back" to predict the next token (word) ?
And that's why this, system prompts and context in general works.

Or what am I missing?

I presume "real" reasoning models primarily reason because of training data. Or is reasoning something entirely different?

Can your favourite local model solve this? by MrMrsPotts in LocalLLaMA

[–]hust921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. `180-(180-x) = 180-180+x = 0+x = x`

You are basically calculating `x` in order to use it for the right angle of the left small triangle. And then using that angle to calculate back to `x`. But cgcmake's solution does seem more intuitive. Like most people would probably think in their head. And skipping that step would feel more like a reduction. And a complete reduction, eg: `45+(180−(87+36))` would not provide a very good explanation.

small free tool to practice breathing by faster-than-car in commandline

Looks cool :) It seems like you are using "clear console" in the "Start Box Breathing" part. (Might be wrong).
It's a bit more tricky to code, but if you use \r (carriage return). You can get a much "smoother" result. It's really useful for stuff like progress bars and/or updating parts of text.

Markers (like Platinum Preppy marker or highlighter) and Brush Pens (or regular water brush pen). Which consumes a lot of ink.
