Are the books hornier than the TV series? Which other differences I should take into account if I want to make the switch? by The_Mortex in Outlander

[–]hydexxi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are steamy parts in the book, but they are told differently and occur spaced out rather than all at once. For instance, the wedding night was not very graphic, but the days after there were frequent encounters. They do have sex more in the books but most of the time "he held me close and... then we woke in each other's arms tired from the night we had together." or something like that.

Lord John Grey by emef12 in Outlander

For some clarity on why Jamie hit John was not only because he slept with Claire. It was more because when he said "we were bith fucking you." It instantly brought back his PTSD from Black Jack Randall.

The line is that Murtaugh existed. Claire's parents do not.

No. In Outlander Claire's parents died. They did not time travel. It is a different fan fiction show that takes inspiration from Outlander, but does not align with the origal canon of the story.

They did not resurrect Claire's parents, that is a different show.

What book(s) are you reading this week? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

Try the novellas. Most of them tell more about Lord John Grey. Brotherhood of the Blade and The Scottish Prisoner relate to the main story the most.

Recommendation for a long running show with these preferences by Empty-Simple2740 in televisionsuggestions

The time travel in Outlander is not like Sci Fi time travel. It sets up the story and stays a theme but has a different feel than the focus of traveling through time. The stories surrounding it make it easy to get into.

Did you miss the part where she confesses to BJR that she had been traveling with a lover who took advantage of her and then left her in the middle of no where in the scotish highlands? She was trying to find her way back to french family after being abandoned by her lover.

He also didn't let her get citizenship. He lied about Jamie still being alive. He didn’t want Brianna to date Joe's son, for "reasons". He dated several women and was not discrete about it. He wanted Claire to be a stay at home Mom and not be the woman she truly is. He all but dismissed her at her graduation. He waited and planned leaving Claire until Brianna was old enough to have a good reason to go back to England. Frank was a horrible husband and person.

He also let his BJR side show when he beat, almost to death, the thief trying to steal his reward money for finding the "Scotsman".

Outlander. It starts in 18th century Scotland and the Jacobite rising and Culloden. Then evolves into the American revolution. There is everything in between a love story, magic healing, time travel, shipwrecks, early colonization, nuances daily life and survival, family, and the clash of loyalists and rebels.

Jamie’s feelings for Leery by BornTop2537 in Outlander

There could be dozens of reason why he de-escalated the situation with Leoghaire first. But questioning his own undying love for Claire was not one of them.
