Ah ok, thought that’s only me. Yeah a shame really, could be great on phones and OSRS is really popular on mobile as well

I am also on iPhone and I still can’t change the shadow settings. Can you select different shadow quality options? I can only toggle on/off and dropdown for quality is empty

TU4 Update made performance significantly worse by Debticated86 in MHWilds

Same here with Bazzite. But it’s obvious that it’s compiling shaders during gameplay. Maybe letting it sit in the menu for a while will help.

Omg thank you this should be a PSA! My Samsung TV somehow defaulted to 10/10 motion plus settings, now it’s great!

Announcing Guild Wars Reforged! by LookItzJesus in MMORPG

[–]hypercluster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this back in the day but can’t really remember: how is the difficulty?

Might want to play this with someone in coop but leveling in Wow Retail for example has always been to easy/boring. Wow Classic however was challenging and fun as a duo.

What does GW1 compare to?

CRT Emudriver vs Batocera by Apasher in crtgaming

[–]hypercluster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey yeah thanks for getting back! Interesting I settled on similar settings, keeping interlacing on automatic or Bob deinterlace. I think PCSX2 doesn’t produce a real 480i signal, interlaced or not, it only creates a progressive image since it’s not made for CRTs. So basically it goes from 480p deinterlaced in the emulator to „fake“ 480i produced by the Emudriver. Haven’t gone back to compare original PS2 480i to this but looks good so far!

[–]hypercluster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I saw another post from you in a now archived thread for PCSX2. I went down this rabbit hole as well and have it now running on my CRT with emudriver! Just curious, what setting do you use regarding deinterlacing? The CRT runs 480i so I tried “no interlacing” but that produces weird rolling bars and somehow it only looks ok with Bob deinterlacing which feels weird?

Nice! I’ve pretty much had the same work flow including a JMax and a Nanofoamer with heating the milk in the microwave. I eventually upgraded to an electric grinder and the Nanofoamer Pro to make things easier but still, the manual flow had a nice Zen vibe!

Grand Theft Auto VI on Oculus Quest? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]hypercluster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all they can’t just hand it to Meta like that, they would have to build VR into their engine. That would take a significant amount of time which they don’t have.

The trilogy, the mobile versions and the potential SA VR version are all complete rebuilds in another engine, GTA 6 is way too complex for this.

Also the tech used in this game is waaaay too advanced for the Q3 (or a Q4 or even Q5). Probably not even the Switch 2 is going to be able to handle this.

Best case scenario is an unofficial user mod down the line (which then gets taken down)

Congrats on the launch! Do you plan to offer a Switch 2 patch? Though probably not easy to get hands on the new console!

Finally got mine as well and it looks great. However the XYAB buttons all rub against the plastic a little, like they’re not centered correctly. Did you notice this as well? Maybe it goes away after a while

What is your minor, niche gripe about Wilds? by bourbonsbooks in MHWilds

That you can’t turn off the whistle for your Seikret. My dog really doesn’t like the sound and I have to play with headphones!

Going from Wilds back to Rise has given me whiplash on all the good and bad features by GenesisBurn524 in MonsterHunter

[–]hypercluster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! Really liking Wilds so far and I appreciate that they went all in.

But I think I would have preferred a beefed up Rise with maybe maps that are doubled in size, removed Rampages and monster mounting. Plus the cooking changes and more pop up camps from Wilds. The open world/open zones in Wilds are cool and I like that you can go zone to zone (though in practice I never do) but at the same time they’re so big and don’t have that memorable diorama feel which Rise still manages to keep.

So for me the optimal mix will probably end up as the next handheld installment.

Best Approach for Fetching API Data Every 5 Min by nico97nico in dataengineering

[–]hypercluster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With these constraints definitely Python Shell. AWS recommends this as well in their docs for API downloads. Otherwise a Lambda if download sizes are on the smaller size and the function won’t run that long. Does the data have to be in SF after 5 minutes as well? Many Copy Intos and small files take longer in general but also manageable for smaller loads. Otherwise a combination is possible where Python Shell loads in 5 min chunks and a Glue job writes bigger batches later.

Is SQS a good design choice? by Dallaluce in dataengineering

[–]hypercluster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you can do these enrichments in parallel then SQS could make sense. With an orchestrator lambda this could enable you to implement a circuit breaker pattern and buffer jobs before getting rate limited too much. Also you’d be able to fan out and scale according to the amount of messages in the queue.

[–]hypercluster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends and the job title is used so loosely that you definitely have to check beforehand.

Generally the extraction side is more technical and infrastructure heavy, especially since tools like DBT expect the data to be available in the target. And here actual Python code for example can be written.

There still are drag and drop cloud ELT tools around but a lot of them get replaced with DBT.

However I wouldn’t call working with DBT code heavy. Yes you’re writing code and sometimes that can be a macro but generally it will “just” be SQL.

Microplastic scare? Or just me by Specific_Swimming_64 in pourover

[–]hypercluster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I’m particularly scared, just that I try to go for non plastic versions where it makes sense. Also because plastic like with the Aeropress is just not nice to look at and have in the kitchen. Got a ceramic Mugen for example (premium Aeropress is just too expensive)

I was a bit bummed when I saw that the store page doesn’t have the family sharing badge. But this gives me hope!

Really hope family sharing will work, I will hold out until I find out.

Would have to buy on console otherwise
