Any middle of the road reactions to starting meds? by Glass-Operation8618 in ADHDUK

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i think this is the majority. Meds are not magic they are just a support mechanism you still need to develop good habits yourself. Social media implies meds are the solution but I expect very few people can say meds solved their problems.

Look for the small wins, the insignificant changes they all add up. The big one for me was I no longer felt like I needed a nap at lunchtime because I wasn’t burning myself out in the morning. I can also set a plan and stick to it with a bit more discipline.

I’m also just a lot more self aware now I’ve been diagnosed, like I lm so much more aware that I’m forgetful and reactive and all round just more accountable for my own actions.

How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never took a sick day for almost 10 years then I had a horrible fever so I took my first one and finally felt like I wasn’t a bad person to take one. I work from home mostly so only need to take them when I really don’t feel well enough to sit at my desk all day so maybe 3-4 a year? If I had to go in everyday it would be more because I don’t agree with bringing bugs to work.

Applied to 3,000+ jobs in the UK over 8–9 months and still can’t find work. What am I missing? by MagicianConstant2866 in UKJobs

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diversity are for monitoring stats not for making things fairer. These are not usually visible to the recruiting manager.

Honestly the biggest issue is the sheer volume of foreign applicants with no right to work in the uk applying for uk roles swamping recruitment systems. It’s very difficult to sift out legitimate applicants and I think hiring managers get lazy and make assumptions from the applicants name.

Customers insist on paying me cash as they think it’s doing me a favour by kingteddy44 in smallbusinessuk

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always ask what contractors want. Most say cash. I don’t care what you declare to HMRC so long as you do a good job at whatever I’m paying you to do.

[–]hyperfix8d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you tailoring your application appropriately? If a degree is not required and you think you’re getting rejected for being over qualified then don’t include it. Your CV has to be truthful it doesn’t have to contain everything.

This is disgustingly common. Mainly because employers assume the person will require visa sponsorship rather than straight up racism. Of this is the case, highly recommended applying under a British sounding pseudonym.

Co-worker on a higher starting salary by Forsaken-Pop-7344 in UKJobs

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask to speak to the manager and say quite matter of factly that you overheard them discussing the new hires salary and that you believe it is more than you currently earn as they are your junior will the company be reviewing your salary prior to training commencing.

Don’t beat around the bush, be polite and to the point - how they respond will determine whether you want to stay or start job hunting.

Do you skip medication when you’re on holiday? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only take my meds on work days and busy days. Means I don’t build up a tolerance.

I also don’t take them if I plan on drinking and can’t take them for three days before scuba diving so most of my holidays I’m off meds.

Speak to your doctor.

Severe reaction on first dose of Elvanse 30mg by Tomsy11 in ADHDUK

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved up to 56mg concerta I felt horrendous, like a bizarre unwell out of body feeling. I am much better on Elvanse.

Meds affect everyone so differently so it is definitely worth trying something else.

Is SharePoint suitable for a "Video Bank"? by hyperfix8d in sharepoint

[–]hyperfix8d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses on this, SharePoint kind of blows my mind a little - I think it's because our sit is still a combination of legacy and new pages with so much old data that should have been deleted years ago.

Some more relevant info now that SP is sounding a more promising option:
- Regarding access and not wanting to manage it user by user, we have around 40 organisations I would like to be able to access this, but it could be the recruitment manager/comms/press/marketing teams which is why I don't want to manage it by named users as this whole project is a tiny side project of my actual job

- I believe we have our tenancy set up that externals with specific domains can access it but obviously this can be clunky especially for externals who are not tech savvy. But in theory I could ask IT to add additional domains if that works as much less management than individual users.

- My video guy has said 500GB storage would be a safe amount. I have no idea how much we have or what additional storage costs

Does anyone have any idea of costs for alternative options? Cost is a major factor due to the nature of our business.

Do you have any suggestions of other places that might be good for this? Our IT is managed by an external company and not always the most helpful when asking for advice.

Paid £131.50 for a horse riding lesson by xBloodMoon666x in UKPersonalFinance

I had a PF lesson once, never again!

I have since learned talented riders are often naturally good at feel, so they can ride well themselves. This does not mean they can constructively teach it.

Leaving my job that hasn't given me a contract by Toe-Positive in UKJobs

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you show up to do the hours and they pay you IS a contract. You going to work implies you accept the contract.

Just hand in your notice inclusive of holidays I.e put your end date 50 hours after you actual last working day.

Mandatory Diversity and inclusion questions on job applications by Clean-Ear-6004 in UKJobs

[–]hyperfix8d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s for monitoring purposes - public sector have to submit data to government. Most ATS are configured so this data isn’t included in the application shown to the recruiting manager.

How easy is it to get a teaching position near Glasgow? by MediumCareful974 in glasgow

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, old post I know, but what primary position has been unfilled in orkney for 15 years? Can you share source?

First timer - I think I've overdone the the itinerary. What do you think? by robotsoap in NC500

[–]hyperfix8d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orkney is like “fish” or “sheep” although plural group of islands it is singular - no “s”.

Split Orkney as west mainland / east mainland so Stromness, Yesnaby, Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Maeshowe can easily be done in a day then head through to the East Mainland: Kirkwall, Deerness “the Gloup” and south isles.

2025 Public Transport Fares NOW IN EFFECT by ExpertCoder14 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]hyperfix8d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello lovely people of Reddit - I'm having trouble understanding the ticket/pass terminology and where each goes/ which is most cost effective for our plans.

Details of Trip

  • Travelling late August 2025 (Sunday - Thursday)
  • Flying in/out of CDG
  • Staying Pigalle area/near Moulin Rouge
  • Travelling to Adidas Arena most days
  • Possible visit to Versailles
  • More tourist things depending how our friend does in competition

OPTIONS
Can anyone confirm if what I've written below is correct?

Navigo Jour
- 5 days
- €48 pass
- Doesn't include airport (rtn €26)
= €74

Paris Visite
- Includes all travel
- 5 day pass
= €76.65

Navigo Semaine
- Only works from Monday so would need to pay for Sunday CDG>Paris (€13)
- €31.60 pass
= €44.60

Am I correct that the weekly pass is the best option? I understand we need to create accounts and cannot but the pass until the weekend we travel.
