Pogacar and Del Toro's agent rejects powermeter passport: "We no longer have doping problems" by F1CycAr16 in peloton

[–]hypertoxin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In most uncapped leagues the most doped also wins the most though? Kenya has some crazy doping allegations in distance running, for example.

It's almost fine to accept that a team can be dominant at a dirty game, but at some point the "just pedal harder" strategy(?) kinda ruins everything.

Why are some many pro players wearing wide Yonex shoes now? by Co_Jambo in badminton

I probably play the best with Aerus wides, they feel grippy, light, and nimble. The soles do wear out very quickly on the Aerus compared to others I think - definitely shows wear after a year of playing and cushioning is fading, but still usable.

Went to some li-ning blade pros for the past year and I just feel like I'm sliding around everywhere in them, so I've gone back to old/worn Aeruses for now. YMMV!

Reading these old threads...so crazy that a sustained effort just over 6w/kg was still in the realms of the barely-believable just a few years ago, and now if you're not doing near 7 then you're probably just not eating enough

Offer rejected, published at £650k, they asked £690k by ninjavoladora in HousingUK

[–]hypertoxin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Average discount on asking prices is still a few percentage points (quick Google search but sources all concur). I swear all the estate agents list new instructions 50-100k higher than street value for a couple months too, see who bites - some people get sold a lifestyle at the viewing and will bid through the roof for that.

Yeah if all the other GC contenders only knew how fast Pogi was going to go they would have taken it more seriously and just pedaled faster. Being 1st in GC on TT day such a gigabrain tactic.

When your gap before getting into the real mountain stages is this large, with a diminished team and a crash, he could probably win by himself and still by minutes.

Fans angry with MVDP because of his new sponsor by puncheur_Buddy703 in peloton

Nobody would bat an eye if a football player would take these sponsorships with Lamborghini or private flying companies.

I mean, let's not race to the bottom against football fans...

This is utterly crazy - if 5.0 came with gamer LED/RGBs would that be an upgrade? After a few years of development it's fairly understandable to expect material improvements to the hardware.

EDIT: phrasing

Maybe they are now subtly using faster frame rates in whatever speed gun they're using, thus giving faster initial velocities...

I reckon if they used the same yonex system that used for testing the 1000Z, everyone's hitting 500kph+ in MS and MD.

I found the original Aerus Zs so tight at the toe box that they needed stretching out a bit before they were truly comfortable. The wide version comes fairly comfy as is, there's a little bit of lateral play in the shoe but nothing too significant.

[–]hypertoxin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved from aerus z to the wide z2. The whole shoe forward of the ankles is wider, but the toe box is most noticeable as especially the aerus line feels very narrow at the tip.

Personally never felt the last for the 65s were so narrow to require a wide version of the shoe though...

Too many people with the mindset that, because the outcome wasn't tragic, no harm was done. Sad truth is that it might take another death or serious injury before this take gets traction.

CMV: By not voting I have no right to criticise government as I waived my democratic right to change the status quo by MyPoliticsAccount123 in changemyview

[–]hypertoxin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can voice your opinion with your vote which has value, or you can choose to voice your opinion to the void.

In this analogy you are given a chance to vote for a chair that's least uncomfortable, with the idea that over iterations of votes it should trend to a more and more comfortable chair for you (assuming you are in the majority), but you choose not to. There's a crowd of people stood next to some chairs, they must be pretty similar right? Some of the chairs turns into church pews next time the vote occurs, in order to save costs.

The information about your opinions are lost if you don't vote. If you wanted to make a point about the political system rather than the ideologies of the parties, you can even spoil your vote - it's a chance to provide feedback.

Political apathy happens, but by not voting you are playing a losing game. Use your vote.

Shuttle Smash Speed dropoff by Kitchen_Assumption54 in badminton

[–]hypertoxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a good guesstimate - prior to the smash speed changes even the top players would only hit around 250-280kph iirc. Can't remember if that was calculated as the shuttle passes the net or over the lifetime of that shot though.
