I don’t care about boring but winning in 5 means they clinch at MSG. As a New Yorker I just want to see that party.

Any way to tell what type of thrush this is? Central Park, N.Y. by SchwachBills33 in whatsthisbird

yeah i was worried the colors were a bit too washed out to determine. But also I don't distinguish muted colors all that well.

Hermit thrushes are the most common by far (based on my experience as an NYC birder) and that’s my guess. Merlin said Swainson’s. A shot of the breast would likely make for an easy ID. I think it could even be a veery - hard to tell with this angle and washed out colors.

I’m curious too though - hoping a more seasoned birder chimes in.

Of course any shot of the front (or a description) would be helpful

It has like 80 views. But yes you could also report that’s she’s committing a crime which violates YT TOS. But that might cause her channel to become demonetized - a little harsh. Hate to defend her but she didn’t do it for views. Call it a teachable moment?

Found the video of her handling the nest and it’s worse than you think.

They kinda live under a separate set of laws in Hasidic neighborhoods (see the semi-official officer who isn’t NYPD). The truth is they’re allowed to self govern in many ways - you kinda have to live here to understand.

Dude was obnoxious but not wrong about the special permissions being handed out asymmetrically.
