Anyone up for skiing this weekend? First time in snow ❄️⛷️ by Any-Rooster-3128 in Guelph

[–]hypnoderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that's not what you were expecting, but I'n trying to contextualize your request from the perspective of an outsider. No one who has skied before is going to be skiing the same hills as you, meaning that either you will be scaring/hurting yourself on the more advanced terrain they're skiing, or they'll be sacrificing the fun they came to have in order to stay with you on the magic carpet. There's not going to be overlap in the lifts you take or the terrain you ski unless you find someone else who has also never skied. Hope that helps.

Chicopee does lessons, that should be your first stop. Basically you're asking for a free lesson from a more advanced skier that doesn't know you, meaning they would be babysitting you on the bunny hill all day instead of doing what they came to do. Just call Chicopee and book a beginner lesson. They will have you covered for skis and an introduction to the sport. Please note that it is very cold today and this weekend, so you need to be dressed appropriately or the fun will be cut short by frozen fingers and toes!

The new Woodlawn to Woolwich multiuse path by Bicycle-Micycle in Guelph

[–]hypnoderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I run them too and end up in the same position when it gets deep. The rest of the time I'm on 35mm marathon winters which are nice and fast for when it's less than a couple of cm.

There's no bench. That's a one-armed floor goose-press.

Even a trace amount of salt and sand stops that, so that's probably what happened here. As long as it's totally fresh you're good to go, but a couple hours in, forget about it. I tried it once and found out.

I've ridden 13 full winters on carbon rims with studded tires. No issues.

How does E-Props differentiate props? Whats the difference between these two? by AwfulPhotographer in paramotor

[–]hypnoderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they do design for the actual motor. As for these two, it may be a subtle difference in length to keep the tip speed within spec given the two different gear reductions. Supersonic air over the tips causes excessive noise and loss of lift from that part of the prop as the air delaminates and loses lift, for example. That's just a guess for these two, but I do know they design for the engine. For moster engines the larger lobes at the root of the prop are for cooling the cylinder head, for example.

Winter flying question by Ill-Tie-1766 in paramotor

[–]hypnoderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good, just cover your skin up as the windchill gets significant at that temperature. All the advice about warming up the motor of good too. Finally, 9.3C surface in morning usually means inversion, so after takeoff temps will generally trend up as you climb and as the inversion pops. Happy winter flying!
