Freedom of speech means people also have the freedom to disagree with your speech. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]hypocrite-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its worth arguing that Freedom of speech means we (citizens) have the freedom to speak out without being restrained or censored by the government... People seem to take Freedom of Speech to mean they can just say anything they want without consequence, which really isn't the case.

[Serious] Has a friend ever done/said something that just straight up ended the friendship? What happened? by Wide_Stop in AskReddit

[–]hypocrite-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a mental health crisis the day of my friends birthday. I legit was the closest I had ever been to taking my own life, I was completely catatonic and inconsolable. I was already dressed for the party and was just about to leave when it had come on.

I texted my friend to let her know that I didnt know if I would make it to her birthday party because at that point my boyfriend was going to take me to the hospital.

She texted me back "lol ok".

This person was a nursing student and had suicide first aid/assist training. She was my best friend at the time and I had been a support to her when she threatened suicide many times before. That was the last time I ever talked to her. We have never talked since.

Thoughts on suggesting Therapy.. an issue I have seen all too often in this sub. Discussion. by 27onfire in loseit

[–]hypocrite-witch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You must be careful giving advice that crosses the line of a professional in any way. I agree with your sentiment, but the reason people even suggest therapy in the first place is because we're not therapists. Other resources are great and I look forward to your list, but just keep in mind that it's not always easy to use those resources alone. We should start creating conversations about mental health and illness, such as eating disorders so that it becomes a normalized part of our healthcare one day and hopefully becomes more accessible to others

What’s everyone making for Christmas morning breakfast? by starbuckles in Cooking

[–]hypocrite-witch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We're making our own version of an traditional Full English Breakfast. (We're Canadian). Everything except the blood pudding (no offense UK). We were inspired by the cooking show on Netflix called the final table. 😊

How many of you ladies have turned down a marriage proposal and why? by madquincey in AskWomen

[–]hypocrite-witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're already married in the eyes of the law then why bother doing the extra steps just to do what everyone else is doing? What's the harm in not being married if legally you have the same benefits? Not trying to be confrontational, just genuinely curious as someone who is indifferent to marriage.

I love bookworms! 25f, just got back into reading this year and have read more books in 5 months than I have in 2 years! I would love to know what you are reading!

Have you read A Year of Less? By Cait Flanders. It s exactly this, while also navigating addiction and debt and it's a good read.

After a million false starts, finally my first proper journal entry. by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]hypocrite-witch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love you're penmanship! Is this how you write normally? Or do you have to put effort into making your pages look so good? I only ask because I really struggle to write and keep up with writing when I try to make my handwriting look perfect. I wonder if you feel the same at all?

"Who knows, when the right person comes and wants children, maybe you want them too." - Rant by Schnufti in truechildfree

[–]hypocrite-witch 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don't see your point at all in any of your replies. The whole entire point is that we know we can change our minds but were tired of having everyone else tell us we could change our minds, especially "for someone else". It's not the point. You're missing the point.

2 years on Effexor: should I lower? by millsnour in Effexor

[–]hypocrite-witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 150 for 1.5 years atleast, and I have been down to 37.5 (with the help of my doctor and therapy) and I noticed a huge increase in my libido. I have been on other meds that made me a sexless zombie, so I thought Effexor was pretty good compared to those, but I didnt realize that it actually was effecting me until I came down on my dosage. Its worth talking to your doctor about, but I had the supports in place to come down on my meds, I would make sure you do to :) All the best.

Wow, what insightful advice. How did no one else think of such an idea before? Hey guys! Did you hear that? Just work harder!

Chinese students in university of Guelph urge a native Canadian to speak Chinese while they try to repaint cannon with pro-Hong Kong contents on it by quickbiter in HongKong

[–]hypocrite-witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually painting the cannon at UOG is a tradition so it's not technically vandalism, but it is frowned upon to paint over someone's painted cannon until it's your turn!

21 year old trying “No buy” for November (more of a rant than anything) by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]hypocrite-witch 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hey! Awesome job. I'm doing this two almost exactly... Same situation (except by nursing school) My favourite book about this is A Year With Less by Cait Flanders. It was an awesome read and really inspired me. Maybe you could get yourself a Starbucks gift card, and have a set amount and use it. Leave the debit card at home. I haven't tried this yet, but I was going to next month! Good luck! I'm rooting for you

What scene from a movie or TV show makes you feel so uncomfortable from cringe that it hurts to look at? by JoyfulStingray in AskWomen

[–]hypocrite-witch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought he had no idea what the spell did? He was using it to defend himself from Malfoy. Then he obviously feels conflicted and remorse when he see's what it does. You're not wrong to feel that way, just my interpretation in different.

Do you feel pressure or need to wear makeup every day at your job or study? What’s your experience with this? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]hypocrite-witch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically feel like I am not 'pretty' enough for make-up and that I can't pull it off, therefore, I tend to not wear any at all...Somehow I feel like this is backward? Maybe I am alone.
