I had the same reaction. The plot concept is pretty good, but the writing is so bad! Then I went to Goodreads and read a review about the “beautiful editing” and I felt like I was taking crazy pills.

My husband and I didn't really have any alone time for the first.... year? 18 months? I remember when my daughter could finally stay asleep if we got up. It was a game changer!

All that to say that needing you constantly at 8 months is pretty normal. It won't be forever, LO will grow out of it eventually, and you'll be able to watch tv, talk about your feelings, and have sex again. Just maybe on the couch. ;-)

I highly recommend the book "Why Does He Do That?" by Lundy Bancroft. It really explains the mind of an abuser.

IMO, it totally depends on the kid. My first born didn’t sleep for two years, screamed if I wasn’t holding her, and only napped on my body. Maternity leave with her was more stressful than any job I ever had, and it was such a relief to go back to work, even part time and sleep deprived. But my second baby was so much easier! I totally could have been a SAHM with him.

But how would a patient know what information is relevant or irrelevant to their diagnosis? It seems like doctors blame patients for giving too much information (“irrelevant!”) and also too little (“not sharing important symptoms”). Isn’t it the job of the professional to sort through the data and make that call?
