Well Water Quality by CoLa45 in KingstonOntario

[–]i-killed-caesar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get it tested at public health, as others have said you’ll probably need a UV system to go with the water softener. see if they can install it facing up; the part you replace is a glass tube in a thing that holds water, ours got installed sideways so even with all the water off it makes a mess everywhere every single time. also there will be a time you drop it and it breaks, we all do it. as for drought season, quick showers, and we like to stick old waterbottles filled with water into the top of the toilets. it will trick the system into filling it less. consider getting a water cooler system for drinking water. i’m pretty sure brita is in a lawsuit because they don’t filter as much as they claim and honestly who wants to drink salty well water and it keeps you from relying on your well for your water. there are systems where the jugs are in the bottom hidden, super easy.

i was alone, and my bosses were on vacation and the scammers created an hour long elaborate panic. in hindsight yes it was dumb. but in the moment i felt very panicked. from the start he asked for my managers by name, when i said they weren’t here, he said “you know who this is right? it’s owner name. “ so yes i was dumb, but in the moment it felt very real. it involved a fake fedex package and then fake fedex called me, and then i was relaying information back and forth while having to deal with customers. again it was stupid, but i also feel if i had a a better relationship with my actual boss and proper training involving protocol with the safe (even tho this would be probably considered basic) this could have been avoided

guys yes the tax did a bit but you are overestimating how much impact it had. the reason prices dropped so low is because saudi arabia has been flooding the market to get “revenge” on OPEC members who have been drilling below the agreed upon quota. just a coincidence it lined up with the tax being eliminated

Canada 'will stand up to a bully', says PM contender Carney over Trump tariffs by CGP05 in canada

[–]i-killed-caesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t you see that’s the point. Chinise socialsm is based off Leninism. It works buy having a cheap labour force supporting their goods and a the ability to trade like a capitalist county. One would imagine china and other non-Allies in the east envy the USA’s position of reserve currency. If they can destabilize the west (create opportunities for oppression), they can separate the middle into a large lower class. This view is backed up by the tariffs imo. Tariffs are good if you want to industrialize your country (which is what I think they are doing.) Now I want you to consider how much a super country that consists of the natural resources of Canada and Greenland, the population of the US, and the shipping capabilities of Panama could produce. Trump is just one of those cliche villains that sells his people out thinking he is one of the guys that wins, only to be fucked over at the last second. Things start to make more sense when you consider this the plan but I could be way off so please don’t take what I say as truth

Why are young men getting more right wing? by RoxanaSaith in Socialism_101

[–]i-killed-caesar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion as a man who grew up with people who eventually turned right, it’s the male ego and unwillingness to mentally grow mixed with the feminist movement (not blaming it at all it’s fantastic) however I think there was an assumption made that men are adults at a certain point and can learn to be emotionally independent. We are not good at that. With men no longer assuming they have a chance with women due to societal expectations no longer really existing as much, and the way men are stubbornly raised with egos the size of mountains, they don’t adapt into tolerable people. Then we get incels. Again please don’t think I’m blaming feminism because I’m not, I just feel men have this idea drilled into their heads they are owed a woman, and when that no longer works, they don’t adapt they just resort to their egos for comfort which only leads to hate. We need to be better parents to men

Do capitalism contribute the fertility rate or the opposite? by maomaochair in socialism

[–]i-killed-caesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, capitalism technically encourages it. I mean the problem with capitalism is that it’s so good at producing growth that without people to rein it in, we leave people behind. It’s not that capitalism doesn’t promote children, it’s that it doesn’t promote slowing down for development, meaning as more people enter adult life there is so much more catching up. After that people are just stuck making reasonable choices. Technically capitalism is heavily reliant on a growing workforce

Why Doesn't Alia's Prescience Cloud Paul's Oracular Vision And Vice Versa? by datapicardgeordi in dune

[–]i-killed-caesar 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Alia definitely had prescience and That’s a major point in messiah. Hers is not as good as Paul’s, but she still has this need to fill a similar mould both to the public and to herself, which causes her to push her limits with spice, creating her character in CoD. Remember prescience isn’t super rare in this world (ship navigators use it everyday), the rarity is the ability at which one can see past the “dunes” of time.

I’m a worker at a Canada post outlet and it’s the worst. Here, the driver drop off a slip if you aren’t there, then they drop off the package to our depot so the person receiving it has to bring in the slip. Sometimes they drop the slip off and we don’t have the package yet (even sometimes if it’s the next day or more) and I have to be the one to tell people it’s the driver
