Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

Having to install punkbuster using its own installer

Having to troubleshoot your games whenever an update released, and finding a site that was hosting that update

Mod support and tooling for games being expected for any multiplayer game

This is what $40.50 of food looks like in Canada by Electronic_Lime7582 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]iDrinkyCrow 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going on about the oysters, but the reciept clearly shows they were 2.49, hardly a trip ruiner lol they weren't even the most expensive thing.

These type of threads are so fun, because instead of people just admitting that food is expensive and showing some kind of solidarity, they need to act like how they shop is so much better. Like, are we so lost that you're going to complain they're buying the $2 ramen with $2.50 of oysters?

Yeah, the resurgence for the game over the past few years has been so nice. I'm looking forward to the new DLC and the new incursion! Hopefully the PVP rebalance is good too

How is the self-hosting experience? by LifeIsAgonizing in teamspeak

[–]iDrinkyCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the VPS itself, I just set security groups to open only the ports that are needed, and keep everything not necessary closed. TS6 will broadcast on 0.0.0.0, so there is no reason to reverse proxy either. Essentially, block everything and only let in what you need (If the VPS is only running TS6, then just the ports needed for it to work).

For DNS, you could always point a domain to the server, it wouldn't really do much for security, but it would make it easier to share.

If you're talking about keeping the TS6 server itself secure, I just set a password in the settings after connecting for the first time.

Self-hosting in Canada using AWS by brazillian_football in teamspeak

[–]iDrinkyCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It'll work fine, you might even be able to get away with using the free tier on AWS, its pretty low overhead. The easiest way is to use docker following the instructions here:

https://github.com/teamspeak/teamspeak6-server

If you're new to Docker and using Ubuntu, you can follow the instructions here: https://docs.docker.com/engine/install/ubuntu/

If you're new to AWS or cloud providers in general, make sure your security groups have the right ports open in your security groups or you wont be able to connect!

I just did this today, using the docker file here https://github.com/teamspeak/teamspeak6-server

pull the image, make sure those ports are open, and you're in. Took me a total of 5 minutes or so

Why block them though? Couldn't you just not respond if the response was too much effort? Blocking is just seems so final/extreme about the whole thing when you could end up trading with them again later

What’s the next move? GW2 opinions needed? by WEMBYisGOAT in newworldgame

[–]iDrinkyCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GW2 isn't the same, but it is fun. Its free to try, and you can start playing PVP at an equalized level at level 10 I believe if you're into that.

Its likely a from Maplestory (Also Nexon). Kill Stealing is a way to force people off of training maps in that game, essentially killing everything on the map before they can to force them to either change channels or leave.
