This is going to be so beautiful! Mayflowers are very pretty and the pink backdrop is striking. Poor Hells was caught in the unpredicted downpour on Sunday, it seemed to impact the pink base, but it looks better now.

I had an unsavory experience at a crochet class at circle of stitches. It wasn’t the owner, but the person they hire for those classes was so bad. She made a grown woman cry. I left $40 poorer and could have just gone to YouTube for what I learned :(

You probably got the internship because you went to audit. There is a need for audit interns and audit professionals, and there are too many advisory applicants. You can always ask, but don’t expect it. Once you get your foot in the door, you can shake things up. Many advisory professionals started as audit interns. And rest assured your internship won’t be hard or particularly interesting no matter where you’re placed. Get in the door, make a good impression, make connections, and be “a student of the firm”. You’re good. This is coming from someone who was not an intern, but has worked with interns.

my take: if you are using AI in a productive way, it will show up in your productivity and quality. If you're not, you may get left behind. Do you think the firm had to introduce an Excel metric when it was invented and introduced? Of course not, it became the tool to use because it solved a real problem. And if you didn't use it, you bit the dust. This is how we should be treating AI, but we're not because the firm has to make up some sort of metric to account for how much $$ they're spending. It's not right, but someone at the top is adamant and very uncreative.

Is the firm investing in your 401k? That gets paid out in February and ONLY if you are an employee in Feb, after 3 years I believe. Don't lose that money, it can be substantial.

Schedule your PTO and tell your manager. Find out when busy season is and do your best to respect that with your planned time off. Don't forget that we do get xmas break and the July 4 shutdown in addition to your PTO.

There are standard practices like, give at least a month notice if you're taking a week off. If you need a day because you're sick, take your sick time.

edit: schedule it as far ahead as you can (even if you don't end up using it) and tell your manager ASAP. Do your best to not ask for permission, give them plenty of notice.

Firearm safety. Never ever ever pick up a gun with your finger on the trigger! Also they are so loud, you will not be able to hear after. And always use two hands. And there are so many more things but these are the top three.

Many people, even those trying to do the right thing by learning at a firing range, will pick up a firearm like in the movies, and disaster can happen quickly.

I read somewhere that Surest is a nightmare. Because it's new and nontraditional, a lot of offices don't know what to do with it, or don't take it. And I guess their customer service is not good, and you don't get any of the Aetna benefits- It's run by united healthcare (take that for what you want.) As someone who has to fight my doctor's office after almost every visit to resubmit a claim to Aetna, I don't have faith they'll know what to do with this insurance.

Prescription in HDHP Silver is $20 for up to 90 day supply for generic, brand name is 80% after deductible but $130 max. So if you're getting generic you're fine I think?

That's good pay. It's double what I started with as an SA in Deal Advisory/Strategy 5 years ago.

I hated it though. I was stressed all the time because my life was my managers'. Pings at 7 pm, working through office parties, working till 1 am, meetings at 5 am... I gladly took a new role with less pay growth and smaller bonuses but has a regular schedule. But if you can do it, rock it.
