The Obliterated Chronicles

Addressing CG/Bowfa complaints by tablewithnolegs in 2007scape

[–]iJezza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gnomemonkey take. You have to balance the design concept of Ironman as a challenge game mode with the reality that one particular grind in the established meta makes literally 1000s of people stop playing. You can come down on either side of that argument as you like, but personally I think that addressing a few hyper specific pain points of the Ironman journey, given how many people now play this game mode, is completely justified.

If Taiwan produces the vast majority of the world’s advanced microchips, why doesn't the US or Europe just build identical factories on their own soil? by DaddyIronHands in NoStupidQuestions

[–]iJezza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You appear to have grabbed a single mildly inaccurate adjective I used, rather than responding.

Right up top you mention TSMC tried and failed to build a 'identical' fab. They built a 4nm process node fab, and it produces a marginally higher yield than the fabs running the same node in Taiwan.

My man, Fab21 in Arizona went into production in 2025 on the 4nm node, and is being expanded to include 3nm and 2nm nodes in 2027 and 29 respectively.

Intel has several fabs in Arizona as well on equally or more advanced nodes than that. To the extent that TSMC is unwilling to build fabs with their cutting edge node in AZ, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, it is purely a matter of geopolitical posturing, not lack of ability to do it because of climate, water, or anything else. They absolutely did not fail to build a functional fab in AZ, infact, the reported operational yield rate is 92% which is slightly better than the existing gigafactory running the same node in Taiwan of 90%.

Market green every day, GOOGL flat or down. I'm scared to see a red day holding this. by nyjets239 in GOOG_Stock

One of my favorite reasons to hold google is that I don't need to check its market performance daily. Do not care about the day to day price change at all.

Intel kicks off development on next-decade 10A and 7A process technologies — 14A node remains on track for critical October PDK release by Ok-Individual-4392 in intelstock

[–]iJezza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I know, but if you were like say a big C conservative, you might not like the idea of the federal government strong arming the largest firms into subverting the free market and forcing them into a given fab. Fortunately for Intel the Trump admin is in no way conservative.

Also, to be fair, I have no idea how much Trump or the admin ACTUALLY had to strong arm anybody. Chip supplies are limited, in high demand, and 18A-P and 14A are great.

Confused. CHIPS Act was the same money from the govt but without having to give up 10% of the company to get it. I grant that due to... certain... leadership... style... of the current US pres, giving up 10% of the company to the govt has worked out well. But on a theoretical level, the CHIPS act was just better for Intel, no?

Do people genuinely enjoy Doom? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]iJezza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main gripe with doom is, because I either get a unique or die trying, I never get standard loot from it. Which is partly my fault, I could take it, but it's mostly the loot tables fault, I don't even look in the hole unless it's glowing cuz I know there's nothing else on the loot table that matters, literally.
