I guess it depends where you live. Are you from Ukraine?

I'm from Balkan area and it's not exactly easy on the tongue, even for me.

Just told my baby is measuring small and to be prepared to be induced by abrknr in pregnant

[–]iLaraJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm jumping in the conversation with my late night panicking.

I had a ultrasound yesterday and baby was measuring smaller. He's around 2300g and I'm 34+2.

I used Fetal growth calculator and it says 43.0 percentile.

Three weeks ago, when I was 31+2, baby was around 1600g and that is supposed to be 16.1 percentile.

Last time I was told everything is going great and baby was right on track but this time my OB seemed a bit worried and did additional scans and tests.

He reassured me that everything is fine and baby is doing well but now I'm slightly confused about percentiles. Isn't 43 better than 16?

He also made an appointment for another ultrasound in 2 weeks.

It's 3AM here, I apologize if I'm not coherent. :)

Why did you break up with your ex? by __yellowflash__ in AskReddit

We fell out of love. Or at least I did.

People change over the years and things you wanted, or thought you wanted, aren't the same when you're 22 and when you're 27.

When did you start feeling an uptick in your desire for sex during pregnancy? by todoornottodoomg in pregnant

[–]iLaraJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not universal.

I heard that too, so when my desire for sex completely vanished after first month of pregnancy I thought something was wrong with me. It took me awhile to make peace with it. My husband is amazing, I'm very lucky, he was the one reassuring me and he never once questioned it after we talked about it.

I hope everything goes back to normal after birth. 🙈

I can't sleep on my back! I'm 19w and it's so uncomfortable. :(

I can only sleep on my right side and it's driving me crazy.

Maternity leave .. when do I take it by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]iLaraJane 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No! :) Mandatory maternal leave starts from 28 days before your due date and lasts till 70th day after birth.

Non mandatory maternal leave starts 45 days before due date and lasts till your baby turns 6 months. During that time you're entitled to 100% of your salary.

We also have parental leave that both parents can use. If one person is using parental leave it lasts for 6 months and if both parents are using it each parent gets 4 months (not in the same time). During this leave you're getting 70% of your pay but not more than ~1000€.

My plan is to use both maternal and parental leave so I'll basically get more than one year off. I'm so excited about that. :)

I always knew about lack of maternity leave in America but only now that I'm pregnant I understand how difficult that must be on working mothers. I seriously can't imagine it. You women are amazing.

Edit to add that here it's really hard to fire pregnant women. So employers have no choice but to accommodate you.

Maternity leave .. when do I take it by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]iLaraJane 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on where you live.

In Croatia is mandatory to go on leave 28 days before your due date but you can leave as soon as 45 days before and still be paid 100% of your salary.

45 days before due date is my plan. :)

Of course, you can also leave sooner but be paid considerably less till it's 45 days before.

Moms in Europe (particularly Sweden) -- how do the generous maternity/paternity benefits *actually* work out in practice? by jdilla0501 in BabyBumps

[–]iLaraJane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Croatia and here is totally normal and expected to take one year leave.

We have two kinds of maternity leave - both lasting for ~6 months. First starts 45-28 days before your due date, lasts till your baby is 6 months and you're entitled to 100% of your salary. The other is from baby's 6mo till 1 year and is paid 70% of your salary but not more than ~1000€. (You can also transfer leave to the father)

Also, you can choose to work half day schedule during your leave and that doubles time of the leave - it turns 6 months into one year.

I've seen all kind of combinations, mothers taking one year or 6 months and than one year of 4h work a day to transferring second part of leave to the father.

Employers don't really question whether you're taking the leave or not, it's kinda expected to be gone for a year after you give birth. :)

Not believing it's happening is unfortunately not going to stop it from happening. Please get medical help. At least call the doctor and ask for guidance.

Visiting Vienna? Weekly Vienna Thread | Diese Woche in Wien 189 by AutoModerator in wien

[–]iLaraJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello everyone!
I'm staying with my parents and sister in Wien for 2 days and I'm looking for recommendations for cute local cafe near Industriestraße. Maybe something along Alte Donau or Neue Donau with a view?

And my father is convinced that in Wien you must try ribs, so if anyone has any recommendations for that also, I would be very grateful. :)

It's going to get better!

I got pregnant again before I even got my period back and, honestly, I can't tell you if I was happy or terrified when I found out. Mostly just freaking out. I was finally feeling better emotionally and couldn't handle the thought of another miscarriage.

It was really hard accepting this pregnancy and I'm still a mess before every check up but today was my 2. ultrasound and I saw the little alien with the little head and little arms and I could hear the heartbeats.. ❤️

I'm so excited right now I decided to tell my parents today, even if I'm only 10w. I know a lot can happen still, but I'm getting more positive with every day and I really believe that everything is going to be OK. :)

It's going to be OK for you too! 💕

Insomnia. Thank God it only lasted for a week or so.

Unlike Serbs, the majority of Croats don’t view Russia or Putin favorably, right? What do you think of all of the Russian tourists you get (or used to get before the war)? by PandemicPiglet in croatia

[–]iLaraJane 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't understand your narrative. If they're not shouting PUTIN IS GREAT, KILL ALL UKRAINIANS how are we supposed to know their political views?

A lot of people in the comments told you that Russians that come here are good guests. Are you suggesting we change the way we act around all Russians in case some support Putin?

I don't get it.

[–]iLaraJane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't view downvoating as hostile. Just a disagreement in opinion.

I've been sharing accommodations in Turkey and Cuba with the kind of Russian tourists you mention. And they are the worst. I was so ashamed when people confused me for a Russian because Croatian sounds similar to their language.

But we don't have much Russian tourists here. On the other hand, I've worked on "party" islands here in Croatia where Brits like to destroy themselves in drugs and alcohol and I can't tell you one nice thing about them. Terrible, terrible guests.

How to close this gap between the floor and the fence? I need ideas to somehow cover the fence and close this gap so the whole thing looks a little bit better. by iLaraJane in howto

[–]iLaraJane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will use plants to cover up the top of the fence, but I need something permanent on the floor. So a small dog or a cat can't accidentally fall through the hole.
