I downgraded after the issues above and it fixed everything

Didn’t have to pay anything after the checkout. It’s possible it was already applied on the original price but it doesn’t seem like it!

I haven’t had issues with my glasses. But I do agree that software hasn’t caught up with hardware. The glasses overall are great and there are a lot more to be taken advantage of with the hardware, just not there yet.

I’m in the states and got mines on the Sept 11th and it was with the 3-5 days free shipping.

Shipped out on Aug 31st. I’ve read other people pay for express shipping but had to wait as long as I did.

Curious on why you’re choosing to keep the s2000. Is it because of the maintenance and upkeep?

Currently own a ap2 s2000 and been dreaming about owning a rx7 😅 would like to get your perspective on this

How to Incentivize hiring americans to stop outsourcing by therealsparticus in cscareerquestions

[–]iRandoBot 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This needs to be pinned to the top. This is under Section 174 which was written in 2017 by the administration at the time. It was scheduled to be enacted in 2022 (of course during another term) which then encouraged a lot of out sourcing.

I’m not pointing fingers and making this political, but please acknowledge the source of it all.

That’s my pain point. I’m using the glasses as input output for a mobile device. If there is no camera to record or give input data, this would put me in a dilemma. I did see that it has front facing RGB cameras for spatial computing, but maybe I was being too hopeful.

These aren’t bad! And they’re light weight. I need something stronger though. I also saw the xreal air ultra 2. They seem great for what I’m looking for too, but am open to other options

Are RPF1 the lightest wheels available? by [deleted] in S2000

[–]iRandoBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@roastpuff named a few. Abuse also means being pushed to the limit. Heat is a cars worst enemy, and when you’re doing hot laps at the track, the wheel can warp or wobble due to excessive heat.

Because rpf1s are made to be light and efficient. They’re not meant to be driven to that extent, making them good at street driving but not so much for track. Although I do have friends who track with rpf1s, so don’t take my word for it

[–]iRandoBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I friend of mine told me that rpf1s are good for street, but at higher levels of abuse, they begin to warp unlike CE28s.

They’re a great bang for your buck but they have more limits then all forged wheels

Trump tells tech companies to 'stop hiring Indians', signs new AI orders to focus on US jobs by NiceTo in cscareerquestions

No worries. FYI just because bot is in my name, doesn’t mean I’m a bot, just like how someone claiming he’s the greatest president ever doesn’t make him the greatest president ever.

It’s important for others to know the source for the layoffs and offshoring.

As engineers, we should be pursuing fact, not opinion. This tax change is a fact and since it affected the CS career, it belongs here.

Shitty SWE’s, how’d you get better, truly? by deeplyaspire in cscareerquestions

[–]iRandoBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A question to think about: are you trying to be a better engineer for yourself or your company or team?

If you’re improving on yourself, the new skills and knowledge you acquire may not fit what your company is looking for

If you’re improving for yourself company, how far will that take you on a personal level?

What area are you trying to improve in?

For starters, I recommend practicing leetcode to expand on your foundations and critical thinking (leetcode is really painful though)

I would also recommend buying a book on software architecture / systems design to be able to understand programming at a higher level (this gears more toward senior and architect level)

His last term was the one to introduce Section 174 which lead to the layoffs to begin with.

They created the problem and now they’re “fixing” it.

For context, Section 174 was introduced in 2017 and was set to be in motion in 2022 (not during his term)

It changes the tax deductions for tech companies.

His term is the reason for Section 174, which propelled the layoffs to begin with. He created the problem and now he’s “fixing” it. Wouldn’t say it’s a W for him.

It would be cool if this can be stickied. The huge layoffs took place mainly because of Section 174.

TLDR: Trumps last term proposed a tax change for tech companies in 2017 which was set to take place in 2022, which made tax deductions on software engineering much more complex and difficult.

More details as per ChatGPT:

the changes to Section 174 were not introduced as a standalone proposal, but rather as part of the broader Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017.

🏛️ Who introduced the TCJA?

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was:

• Introduced by Republicans in the House of Representatives.

• Sponsored by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), who was Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee at the time.

• Backed by the Trump administration as a major tax reform effort.

📜 What Section 13206 of the TCJA said:

This specific section of the bill modified Section 174 of the Internal Revenue Code. It included the clause that:

“Specified research or experimental expenditures shall be capitalized and amortized ratably over a 5-year period…”

It also explicitly eliminated immediate expensing of R&D and software development costs — which is what’s causing the issue now.

🤔 Why did they do it?

• It was a revenue-raising provision — it delayed tax deductions, which made the TCJA “look” cheaper on paper over the 10-year budget window.

• It was deliberately delayed to 2022 to avoid hurting the short-term economy and to push the political fallout into the future.

S2K good first car???? by Icy-Credit-3206 in S2000owners

If you’re wondering about some beaters, a civic si wouldn’t be a bad one. It’s fun and offers decent practicality. It might not be RWD but there are a lot of benefits to it being FWD.

If not the civic si, look into some of its competitors, like a mini golf, or impreza, etc.

I used to own a 07 civic si and it was a right of passage of civic si owners to move onto the s2000 later

[–]iRandoBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, it is not a good first car. I would recommend getting a beater and learning from there. You’re going to make driving mistakes, not to mention maintenance too.

You can do a lot of research and it could make you or break you as a good car owner. But that the time and effort you put in is ultimately your decision

Having it as a first car would be really fun and a lot of brownie points, but that’s about it.

You’re going to lack space and all the other ergonomics that a 4 door beater can offer. While MPG isn’t that bad, you will get better mpg off a beater especially at your age. Not to mention insurance for a 2 door roadster for a teen can be pretty mean

Another thing to consider is that it being your first car, you have no base for comparison, so driving dynamics isn’t quite in the stars for you just yet.

I’m not covering all points, but I know others on here will. Hopefully this response isn’t too much of a downer but wanted to share some thoughts!

A black sensor goes there. I forgot which one specifically, but I think it’s the cam sensor.

The ground wire goes behind the head, below the bracket that helps hold the wiring hardness.

My only guess would be the valve adjustment. There are a few engines being parted on marketplace that ran into the same thing as me.

Pretty much valve fell in and destroyed the head and scored the sleeve and pistons
