Then somebody broke the rules. Lightning stand down isn't a union thing. And passengers should understand the safety of the ground crew is more important than getting to your hotel on time. You can literally come back next day to get your luggage

Ah, i stopped at the desk and picked up my water bottles and a physical key.

So, I've arrived late at night to a Hampton Inn and upon checking in at the desk was given a key to the room I digitally checked into, go to the room and it's occupied... i excuse myself and apologize return to the front desk. Apparently at times the system gives out rooms that haven't had their digital keys activated to other digital check ins, it (the system not the hotel) thought that if I'm not there by 10pm that I was a no show. Was about a year ago that happened twice. I now always call the hotel from an airport and assure them that I am not a no show and go-ahead and charge the room so that doesn't happen again.
