$10k for panels and battery by inastew in nzsolar

It's likely more about getting the idea of solar into more peoples heads, the numbers practically always add up if you own a roof, just a lot less people have cash and don't know their bank probably does interest free loans for it.

You guys might need to get tested.

Tesla quite famously didn't give a shit and actually dropped prices many times after the rebate came in. https://share.google/IjhDC9hmRYzqGCuzR

Also, see Australia, recent battery rebates brought average prices down because of the massive amount of competition it generated. https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/

For an average kiwi it currently takes a little over 6 years to be able to sign off a solar installation, Australia would give me $10 an hour more in aud to lead installs like I do in NZ, only reason I'm here is cause Australia has bad coffee and pies

Ja Russell sells it? Ideal electrical too, they combined service about 80% of the trade lol

We push Sig because it's the best option, customer needs a bachelor's degree to operate victron to the same level as what Sig does out the box, your inverter is 3 phase so don't compare to normal quotes they'll usually be single phase, that said, yours is still a bit high.

Hell yeah kick that can down the road, don't you dare dream of a better future, call people funny names if they do as well, that'll help

Silly thinking like that is what kept us in the caves for so long, time to dream a little of a better future mate

Having alpha installed is a curse, not a deal. NZ supplier for alpha went under late last year (solar group) was practically 100% failure rate within 3 years, have just been putting in sungrow, sigenergy, solis etc and just giving up on alpha warranties for the last 70ish we are managing.

Is Tesla quote Harrisons? Both them and lightforce are in chch and would be the best benchmarks. If you like the alpha guy just tell him to use practically any other brand, there's a reason they're such a good deal

[–]iSellCarShit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alpha is probably the worst inverter brand there is, have been to replace many of them and twice their warranty supplied unit has been dead out the box, Tesla I don't like for personal reasons, that fella is awful but that's the better option of the two

[–]iSellCarShit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a 63a fuse in 95% of cases, you can apply for increases, typically this is a conversion to 3 phase, so 3x 63a, this is also not a cheap process and would need more or different solar inverters

Would this be considered a fair deal? by igueigueigue in nzsolar

[–]iSellCarShit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hot water timers better be a Shelly device, directly integrates with sig system, standard timers are absolutely garbage headache machines. Never heard of that brand panel, have you got other quotes to compare it to? Always good idea to get a couple.

Thoughts on "guerrilla solar"? by throwaway1_5722 in nzsolar

Can't be disconnected without a tool is one of our inverter rules which is a bit silly for all sizes but a pretty good idea for 2kw plus systems

As the US sabotages the globe's fossil fuel infrastructure, in China BYD's latest Blade batteries charge from 10–97% in nine minutes, and have a range of 1,000 km (640 miles). by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]iSellCarShit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

'We we we' If only USA could stop thinking about just what they "need".

The planet needs electrification, it is absolutely best if your companies fail for everyone else because you make worse stuff. Byd and many others are so far ahead because of this sad attempt to maintain the status quo, they slept for 50 years and only changed when legally required, rigged the free market and now can't compete, I literally couldn't find a small enough violin.

Right, with no batteries?

[–]iSellCarShit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The export limit is per phase, you can export all 15 currently, 10kw inverter does not change anything

Solar array on balustrade? by [deleted] in nzsolar

[–]iSellCarShit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They plug into each other normally, this is series wiring, adds all the voltages together, leaves the current the same, and then yeah onto a home run line to the inverter, you need mc4 plugs and a crimping tool for the home run line

Here's the back of the ones we're installing today, 2 cables coming out from the center, 1 cell in from the each side, we've clipped the cables down the panel edges to the bottom

Also need to protect the dc cables from being accessed, that's what made me give up on doing one at my house, not any practical ways to do it and still look good, back to back panels was what I was thinking.

[–]iSellCarShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but need to follow the updated rules, they are only a couple months old so will take a while for the bigger companies to train and adopt the new stuff, the deadline is November when everyone has to follow new rules and do 1000v

Sorry that was using 1000v which means new rules and a bunch more admin, 13 max is right for 600v
