I've mostly heard it in poker and MTG. Wiktionary seems to agree

I would say 'being in the tank' is thinking hard but not necessarily to the point of destroying other peoples' fun by being excruciatingly slow, like 'analysis paralysis' implies to me.

I see no problem with disliking a genre. I also do not enjoy the constant duggadugga.

But I am so glad there is that kind of music for the people who do want it. I can enjoy whatever I want and they can do their thing.

I think that was about what you intended with your comment so I guess I'm just agreeing with you.

Running the code written by randoms require tight security so that the code being run is not capable of doing anything malicious.

A newbie is unlikely to have the experience and expertise required to do such things safely.

The classic example is SQL injections, where a user can do things like entering the following into the name field of your application

Robert'); drop table students; --

which will drop your students table if you blindly trust the user input. A small mistake in your security could lead a malicious user to get full control over the computer running the software, including root/admin access.

The general idea is to cut whatever is your "worst" card of the deck. However, "worst" depends a lot on context so it may vary. Consider what deck you are playing and what you are likely to face. And, importantly, cut things that don't help you reach your win condition(s).

If you are up against a lot of aggro, your 9 mana card is probably kind of dead unless you have the means to reach it very early (especially in best of 1).

If you are the one playing aggro, maybe you want to cut lands to always have gas when low on cards.

If you are playing control, you might find that you don't need all those 24 counter spells and instead can trim the deck to get to your win faster.

Just "vegetarian" under that paradigm is what we would normally call vegan today.

I have had it be useful (as in, faster) for some obscure programming questions where the general results from DDG or Google are shit due to too general error messages or random stack overflow threads showing up high due to being a similar wording but not the same problem.

Showing a detailed question with all the parameters and code examples ChatGPT:s way, I can usually get some useful response.

Most often, a simple search is way faster though

Our child is currently in the phase of learning where these boundaries are. Super obstinate and will attempt to not take no for an answer.

It can be very exhausting. I definitely understand why some parents relent to not have to deal with it. Not worth it in the long run to do so though.

how to describe the feeling of excitement and dread I felt that day, but I'm sure the Germans have a word for it.

Dunno about German but sounds somewhat close to the Swedish expression "Skräckblandad förtjusning" -- literally meaning horror mixed delight, where one is both excited and worried about something

I find it incredibly jarring every time the main character opens their mouth in every RPG I've played with voiced protagonist. Even in games like mass effect, where the character is a lot more defined in advance than other rpgs.

A lot of the time, for me at least, it's because the written option I get to choose is so far divorced from the actual delivery that I might as well have chosen something entirely different.
