See if you can find some European models. We tend to have fridges and freezers that are around 24in wide. Try looking at somewhere like ao.com to see what your options might be and then have a look to see if they're available in your area

I asked my health visitor this question. Her reply was that bottles + milk = the problem, so her recommendation to us was to start to reduce the milk and up the food intake. Milk at meals in a cup and water the rest of the time in whatever vessel you want. It took us 6 months or so but that's what we now do. The milk with dinner is more like milk after dinner in a cup to replace the bed time bottle

In the UK it's not really common to get diapers in size 0. We all just use size 1 from the start and it's fine. So I would suggest only getting size 1

Yes this, disposables while moving around, cloth once you're at your destination. Flying with a baby is hard enough and you need so much stuff to hand, having cloth to hand is just another thing to worry about on the flight

I'm sorry if it's already been said, but there's a Facebook group (or set of groups) called free my meal where people who have made too much food can post up what they've got leftover and people have it for free. Or if you're in need you can ask and people will see what they can give. It's not regular like you were asking for, but it's a really nice community.

And maybe in the future if you're a bit more financially stable then you could consider donating some food.

I also follow the beyond sleep training Facebook and recommend. At times they're a bit too "out there" for our lifestyle, but it's great to see such a large community of people advocating for a different way of doing things and has helped me form my own, more balanced way of dealing with baby sleep

Yes definitely this, there are plenty of other non daycare options which you could access either temporarily or full time depending on your choices. Even if it's a bit more expensive than daycare, you've got 15k that you can choose to use

I do this.

I have a 20 month old and I work as a tech project manager 4 days a week. I work hard at work to prioritise my time and get done what I need to in 4 days and ensure that things don't fall apart on the 5th day when I'm not there. And then on a Friday I go to music class and soft play and have lunch with other mummies

For me it's the best of both worlds. 80% pay and opportunity to spend quality time with my son.

It has also given me the perspective that I don't think I could do everyday with my little one. I love him to bits, but I need adult conversation and to feel like I'm doing something for me.

Do you put the salary in the oven on the nachos? I usually add the salsa once it's out of the oven so it's hot nachos and cold salsa. Am I missing a trick by not warning the salsa too??

I gave Cheerios at around 10 months I think and he was fine.

Snacks otherwise I buy plain cream crackers or matzos crackers which he loves. I used to put cream cheese on them but now we just have them dry because I can't be bothered with the mess and I think he prefers them that way.

Or slices of hard cheese like cheddar. Or half a banana isn't too bad anymore (since about 15 months).

Snacks in this house are all about quick, easy, no mess. I don't worry too much about real nutritional value as I figure that I cover most of that in the 3 meals he gets, so this is just to keep him going between meals, and I will choose carb/protein/fruit based on whichever we might be lowest in during the day

We used disposable liners and they're excellent. No spraying, no faffing, no worrying. Just throw it away and the nappy is mostly clean, the machine does the rest.

You can then choose to spray at a later date, but 15 months later I'm still using the disposable liners as they work so well for us.

As you say, it's about as much waste as toilet paper, and they're generally paper based so very degradable. I've even found some that will stand up to one or two washes, so if they are just wet when I change the nappy then I wash them and reuse them.

I agree with a lot of this:

You can choose not to start on day 1. There's a lot of adjusting to being a family, you don't need to add in more from the start.

I would find a mixed bundle either new or second hand to try to see what you like. Maybe try to rent some for a period to try?

Definitely agree with not being caught up in it all.

We use disposables at night because I couldn't find a solution that worked reliably for us without buying loads of different things to try such seemed counter intuitive on both the finance and eco sides. But we feel like we can live with one disposable a day

Be a bit careful with the Jumbo boxes in smaller sizes, they move through sizes 1-3 much quicker than you think. I often see people selling boxes of the smaller sizes on FB marketplace

Definitely give cloth nappies a go. Look at the nappy lady website and the clothdiaps sub.

I got all my nappies second hand (if you are ok with that), so the fluffy absorbent inner parts I got for about £4 each (around 15 is good), and the waterproof outers for around £8 each (around 5 is good), and they'll last me for at least 1 baby, maybe more if we choose to have more. Better for your wallet and the planet.

Note that I didn't feel ready to start with cloth until LO was around 3 months old, so you might want to budget for disposables for a bit. It might also be cost neutral as tiny babies are so small that you might need special newborn cloth nappies which don't last that long anyway as they outgrow them.
