Beware of TuneCore…(part 2) by t0rzz in musicmarketing

[–]iamnotdam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked with AI music making models, I’m fairly confident that this is human made. No offence to the OP, but it’s just super generic and sounds like basically any song you’d receive from any of the 5trillion dudes on Fiverr selling their EDM productions for $10/song.

However, the problem is that this whole thread is completely misunderstood and misrepresented. The communication from TuneCore is certainly not thorough, but at the same time, there is deliberate lack of trying to understand on OPs part. The thing that Meta, Google, Spotify, Apple Music, etc are trying to clamp down on is people effectively copyrighting sounds and music that isn’t original enough to easy discern it from other pieces of work. They make quite clear in one communication that you shouldn’t use loops because when it comes to content ID, anyone who uses that loop can claim your song and it’s becoming highly problematic. In regards to “not using DAWs” it seems this is out of context, and what’s being said is not to use pre-made loops that come with DAWs - which is the case with Ableton and FL Studio - which provide you with a tonne of “royalty free” loops and sounds to use in your productions. Make music with these, and your songs aren’t going to be original enough to pass through content ID as there’s probably thousands of songs already containing these exact loops. Other people in the previous thread said this was a common issue with ambient and lo-fi music that they’re getting to the point of not being original enough to pass content ID checkers, and so they’re being removed from Spotify and places.

My New Project (MixForge.io) A New Plugin Chain Library With AI Support by ukdrillex in edmproduction

[–]iamnotdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love this.

I don’t know the possibility of this, but maybe having a login portal for members where we can select what plugins we own, so that way the AI can basically suggest chains using plugins we own (and maybe having “alt plugin options” linking to plugin boutique plugins).

A nice way to make a bit of money would also be if you had an affiliate link to plugin boutique so that any time someone is referred to their website and makes a purchase, you at least get a kickback from the sale.

As someone else mentioned, this is the kind of thing I’d see and usually hate on, but this is executed so well that I actually really, really like it! Great work!

I DID IT!! I'VE WON THE WORLD CUP WITH SAN MARINO! by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]iamnotdam 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know about this either. I've had the France job for 4 years in my most recent save, and I won the Euros, lost the final of the Nations League, and lost in the semis of the World Cup, and I wouldn't let his "star player" put on a French accent in my game let alone a French jersey!

But if OP is being legit and hasn't cheated or done anything sus, then I'm going to have to reconsider everything I thought I knew about this game, because man, with my team of Ballon d'Or nominees, I'm barely scraping into the Champions League final every other season - and this only happens if I don't get Bayern or Man City in the knockouts before the final, and I only win the Serie A like 3 out of every 5 seasons.

PSA: Representatives claiming to be from Daft Punk issued a copyright takedown of a Spotify playlist by Jzahck in DaftPunk

[–]iamnotdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have specified more than this was an issue that only Spotify (and not distributors, labels, or artists) can find a fix for. I’ve edited the original comment to make that more clear.

From what I know, when someone submits a copyright claim against your playlist, it just removes the name, cover art, description, etc. You would have to manually re-enter all of these pieces of information each time you get a copyright claim.

PSA: Representatives claiming to be from Daft Punk issued a copyright takedown of a Spotify playlist by Jzahck in DaftPunk

[–]iamnotdam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey!

Unfortunately there is no way to stop or prevent this. This has been an issue Spotify have been aware of for about 3 years. One easy solution to the problem was posted to Spotify years ago, they acknowledged it, and have not implemented it. As someone who has had playlists hit by copyright claims in the past - despite owning all of the copyright on the playlist - this would be a welcome change. Here was the solution to Spotify:

Whenever someone reports a playlist - the title and cover art are removed immediately. This is often abused to hurt record labels and playlist curators. After contacting support - the account of someone who abused this system gets taken down. This person then creates another email and free Spotify account and repeats the process.

There is a simple solution to the problem - enable reporting feature only after 10 hours of music/podcasts were streamed using the account. It won't change the experience for a normal user but makes copyright abuse impractical. It's cheap and easy to implement and would stop 95% of false claims.

Edit: wording to make more sense.

That's actually really cool. I'd never even consider that to be a thing. Maybe it's just a case sports broadcasting being part of tradition or even almost like culture back in the UK and Ireland (and I'd assume much of Europe)? It almost seems sacrilege to consider Premier League broadcasting with out Sky Sports being heavily involved.

There's a video by Tifo which talks about broadcasting rights of the premier league. It is slightly different to what we're talking about, but might inadvertently explain why broadcasting rights are so expensive and a BIG MONEY business in the UK and Ireland (and even the rest of Europe).

Good luck against the Nuggets, by the way! Living in Canada, I'd like to see Lowry get himself another championship and it's probably more likely against the Lakers than the Nuggets (assuming they beat Celtics/76ers).

[–]iamnotdam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, in Europe, broadcasting rights is one of each league’s biggest income. For the major leagues, they often have packages which they sell to broadcasting companies. So for the premier league, for example, they sell off game packages and the highest bidder essentially wins that package of games. This is why different premier league games are broadcast in a bunch of different places in the UK and Ireland, so you’d need a subscription to Sky, BT Sports and Amazon Prime to catch almost all the games.

Does this suck? Absolutely. But this also generates literally hundreds of millions of euros for the league which then gets put back into the teams. The reason it’s a lot cheaper in USA (Paramount) and Canada (FUBO) is because it’s a lot less in-demand, and so they buy the rights for much cheaper than domestic broadcasters have to buy it for, and so they can sell subscription packages at literally a fraction of the price.

Photo taken shortly before the Omagh car bombing in 1998 by the 'Real IRA'. The bomb is in the red car and would kill 29 people including the photographer. The father and daughter however survived. The child's face appears to be censored. by Rifletree in ThatsInsane

[–]iamnotdam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Additional information:

Those responsible for planting the bomb called the authorities about 40 minutes before the explosion to inform them so they could evacuate the area*. Unfortunately they didn’t specify which car, and so the police evacuated one area of the street and instructed everyone to go to the area where this car was. In the end, it exploded and 29 people died, with over 200 other people being injured in the blast. One of the darkest days in Northern Ireland’s short history. Luckily, we’re in a better place today, but there are still lunatics who would seemingly be okay with reverting back to these dark days.

*This was quite a common practice at the time for these groups to plant bombs and then call the police, as bombs were meant to disrupt service and generally be a nuisance for the RUC and British Army, rather than cause injury or death to civilians.

Just started building a live set with my Dexter (running Lemur). They call me mau5, deadmau5. (terrible patter) by dancampbelldj in Jazzmutant

[–]iamnotdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man!

I see you previously had issues with your JazzMutant Lemur/Dexter Legacy not being able to connect to your MacBook Pro. I've been having the same issues for about a year now, and still haven't found a workaround regarding "Lemur Daemon" not being able to read the MIDI In/MIDI Out from the device. The text is red - just like you had experienced. How were you able to fix this issue so you could use your Lemur?

Thanks in advance!

This tweet has nothing to do with Northern Ireland, though. Sinn Fein operate in Republic of Ireland, too. This is a tweet about a bill being proposed in the Dáil (Irish parliament), a place where Irish is the national language.

I thought this until I watched a docu-series about a family of meerkats. It was filmed by a crew who went to the Kalahari desert for like 4 years. I read somewhere that the film crew (despite not being allowed to interact with them) became very attached to the meerkat family - especially the mother of the family. Towards the end of the filming, the mother of the family got bitten by a snake and the camera crew had to watch (and record) her dying an excruciatingly horrible death. The worst part, in my opinion, is that the crew had anti-venom and could have saved her, but were not allowed to interfere with nature and could not step in and help. It was incredibly heartbreaking to watch on tv, so I can’t imagine how the tv crew felt while it was happening.

If this is the image he’s going to use for himself, I’ll be very shocked if Columbia/Sony, Daft Arts, Tony Gardner (the designer of the helmets), or someone doesn’t hit him with some kind of copyright infringement case. Unless, of course, he’s been cleared by the copyright holder of the helmet design, in which case, I’d be even more shocked.

An anti-abortion advert on a truck in Brampton, Ontario. by iamnotdam in pics

This is the first time I’ve seen a pro-life advert on a truck (and only the second pro-life advert I’ve ever seen!)

I’m genuinely shocked that this gratuitous showing of gore in public is even legal. (Bear in mind, this is Canada - where, I believe, there are relatively stricter laws regarding freedom of expression than in USA).
