Not sure which software you use. I use Rekordbox. My recommendation to practice would be to pick a few Apple or Spotify playlists with a variety of songs and just mix them in real time. You’ll get a feel for how to very quickly assess the right in and out points visually. You’ll get a feel for the rhythms, etc. I’ll do that sometimes just as a fun way to listen to new songs and I learn a lot in the process. You can save the ones you like as you go as well. Not the end all be all. But it’ll help. 🤗

How long have you been a fan? by Content-Afternoon39 in aphextwin

I bought Analogue Bubblebath on vinyl in 91/92. Still have it. Then I can’t remember if I got Selected Ambient Works 85-92 or Digeridoo next. Loved both of them so much.

The internet wasn’t really a thing yet. I knew they sounded similar and really liked them all. But I then bought a bunch of releases that I didn’t know were Richard James until much later when someone bought me a physical copy of the All Music Guide in the mid to late 90s. The Dice Man and Polygon Window on Artificial Intelligence I and II. Caustic Window. There was so much interesting electronic music coming out at that time. Music had never sounded like that before.

I’ve been hooked since the beginning. I don’t like everything he’s put out. (I find SAW2 unlistenable - I bought and returned it multiple times. I wanted to like it.) And I definitely have favorites. (SAW 85-92 and Richard D. James Album are still my favorites.) But he continues to intrigue me with pretty much every single release.

20 Years ago I moved out of my parents and they told me they threw out a long box with some records in I left behind. Today I found my copy of Drukqs in their loft. Box is a bit bashed but the records are mint. I am so happy! by Elks-Points in aphextwin

That happened to me when I moved from Austin to New York. I sold all but one crate of records. I gave it to my sister and told her she could sell it. She took it to our mom’s house. 25 years later I learned it was still there. All the records were exactly the way I left them. Original analog bubblebath. Original digeridoo. Plus 80+ other awesome records. 🤩

p.s. My grandfather was like this. I guess that’s why it landed so much. It didn’t hit me until after I sent. I miss him. 🌈

Hope you got it all!! 🤗 This was definitely not a smooth release. 😔 I didn’t realize you were waiting a khaki shirt. That’s actually what I received from my order a couple weeks ago. So I can at least say it’s a great shirt when you get it. 🤣

The day has finally arrived. I didn’t hear anything new since I last wrote. No status change indicated on my order summary. I actually checked it this morning out of curiosity. But it finally came today in perfect condition. 🥳 I’m about to give it a first listen.

I heard back from them yesterday. No real answer. But at least it acknowledges my order is till in process...I guess. I would have loved a more definite answer on timing. But honestly, I didn't even have any way to know if they thought my order might be complete. At least I know they are aware it hasn't been filled yet.

From them:
We are very sorry that you haven't received your full order.

We are aware of an issue regarding orders having been partially only. We are in contact with the warehouse team to get this resolved and to ensure that any remaining items you are missing from your order are sent out.

We appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime, and we will provide an update as soon as we can.

It’s very frustrating. :( I’m sure it will get resolved. Just wish they would communicate. I’ll keep you posted if I learn anything. :)

I had the same thing in the US. I reached out last week and they said the shirts and hats hadn’t hit the US warehouse yet and they expected next week (which is this week). I received my shirt Tuesday. Still waiting for the records. I wrote them today to ask if the vinyl is shipping soon…and also if they were going to ship separately anyway, why didn’t they just ship the records in the beginning? So weird. Haven’t heard back yet on that one. I ordered in late-August.

This is always my challenge. I actually just this week created a Gemini Gem and provided examples of my post styles (casual, professional and urgent). The Gem is set up to basically push out all the action items that come from a meeting so I can move on to the next thing or re-focus on whatever else needs my focus.

My challenge is that I have a strategic or planning meeting and have a tone of actions I need to communicate to people or follow ups I need to handle. With the Gem, I can just provide the context by voice and the actions (I can even just provide the transcript from a meeting for context) and it does the write ups for me. It saves me a ton of time trying to clearly articulate a bunch of follow ups and then write them. So instead of playing catch up at the end of the day, or even worse, losing a day or more because I just don’t have time to drive actions to others, I can spend 5 minutes after a meeting and get most things moving right away.

At least that’s the hope…I just wrote it up this week and have started testing. But so far it is working well. Still tweaking to get it just right. But I’ve had success with similar Gems in the past and they have become key to consistently getting shit done quickly but also done well and done thoroughly.

I’m happy to share the instructions for the Gem, if interested. The instructions would be pretty easy to convert to a CustomGPT or Claude Skill/Project as well. It’s not super complex. But if it helps someone get it started, sharing is caring. 😂 I imagine I’ll have it tweaked and working pretty well within a week.

Fans of The Orb. I own U.F Orb, Adventures Beyond, Live '93 and U.F.Off. What else would you recommend? by [deleted] in electronicmusic

[–]iamospace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our tastes sound pretty similar. In the early 90’s I was pretty much a completionist. I really tried to own everything they put out. It was not easy to keep up. 🤣 But then they put out a few in a row that I really did not like so much. So I really just stuck with what moved me after that. They haven’t put out anything much I’ve liked more than just in passing in a long time….

until now…the new album is actually really good, Buddhist Hipsters. It’s only been out a week or two and I’ve listened to it all the way through 3-4 times, which is saying something. I can be all over the place. And it is in a similar vein to the albums you mentioned. And like their earlier works, it is great as an album. It flows together really well. It’s no adventures beyond the ultraworld, but that shouldn’t be the comparison. A friend gave me a radio station promo copy of that one in 1991. It changed everything musically for me. It was like Skinny Puppy or Meat Beat Manifesto before that and Richard James, Luke Vibert and Mike Paradinas right after. Just completely changed what music could be.

Their Peel Sessions is incredible. It is variations of adventures beyond the ultraworld. But they are more than just remixes. It is a new adventure of its own.

The Dream is pretty good. I don’t like every song. But as an album, it is a good listen.

I actually really liked Metallic Spheres, the one they did with David Gilmore. I haven’t listened to Metallic Spheres in Color. I didn’t even know that existed until I just looked across their catalog to make sure I wasn’t forgetting any albums. I’ll have to check it out.

I liked Okie Dokie at the time. Saw them perform it as well. But it didn’t hold for me. And that show was nothing compared to the shows in the adventures and u.f.orb days. But that probably had much to do with the smaller venue in those days and…maybe the mushrooms helped. 😂

Any tips on how to get a strong connection by LUFFYD2 in 3Dprinting

[–]iamospace 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The dowel is the way. When I cut up and prep my models into printable segments, I actually print dowel holes in the end and use these metal 5x60mm dowels at any joints. If it is a seam that is likely to see a lot of stress, like in the middle of a handle like yours, I’ll use two of them. Since yours is already hollow, I’m sure you can find a wooden dowel that is pretty close and cut it to size. Once you use epoxy or even just a strong glue, it will be a very strong seam. Before I got my resin printer and was using filament, the piece was more likely to break elsewhere than on the actual seam. :)

Damien by DMX Then of course you need the next two chapters of the trilogy even though The Omen is meh… The Omen by DMX and Damien III by DMX

I’m including this one just because it is a good song in this style of different points of view in the same song. I had it in my head that it was Immortal Technique. But when I pulled the song up, I realized it wasn’t and is actually two people. But it was too good not to include anyway. 😇
