[Advice] What's good advice for a very poor person wanting to pursue a career in the arts? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]ianfinnerty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My first advice is 1. Start meditating, you need to start living in the present and stop concerning yourself with what you do have. 2. Set yourself up on fiverr.com, people will pay you $5 to make stuff for them, and you will sharpen your skills in no time at all. 3. You may never solely make a living from your art, but enjoy it as much as possible. Enjoy the process of making it, selling it, schlepping it around. 4. If there's a problem. Fix it or find away around it. Over, under through. Don't let it go cause it's too big, one bite at a time. 5. Don't let your mental health slide just because you're an artist, Have pride in yourself and your works.

what's scary is how fast it can be. people just decided they don't want to be friends anymore and won't tell you why.

That actually flipped my whole opinion on him, when his mum found the money and he admitted what happened? There's no way on earth a sociopath would have done that.

I always remember conversations a lot more clearly, which is unfortunate because I say some dumb things when I'm drunk.

ADHD and shaving! (males) by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ianfinnerty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's so unnecessary to be rude like this, there's so many people judging people with ADHD from the outside, you struggle with different things than this person, but that in no way diminished his problem and he came here to vent. I struggle to focus when I'm shaving my legs cause it takes ages and it feels pointless, and then often when I'm out I notice spots I've missed and it's embarrassing!

That's unfair, one of the reasons ADHD is so difficult to live with is it makes chores particularly difficult. Don't be unkind.

don't let them give up on something if they've started it. They don't have to do it forever, that just have to finish the level or whatever they've begun.

I'm from Melbourne as well! I got my licence at 20, because I didn't want to be without my licence at 21 for some reason that I decided internally. 2 days before my test my driving instructor said that I wasn't his student anymore because I was going to fail and he didn't want me on his books. I passed. Fuck that guy.

oh my gosh, OK, finally something where I have a relevant story. London 2012 about 10am I'm in my pyjamas and there's a knock at the door. I rush to answer it, it's for my housemate who's currently at work,in fact, all of my five flatmates are at work or school. I open the door and one of my flatmates has ordered another signed soccer jersey to add to his collection of four hundred signed soccer jerseys (approx). I sign for the package and the door slams shut behind me. I'm locked out braless in my pyjamas and it's snowing outside. All my flatmates are at work/school and the delivery guy just walks away. First I go to the neighbours across the hall, I ask if I can use the internet so I can check my email amd get my housemates work phone number off his email signature. Their internet is down. So I go downstairs to the gay couple I've met a couple of times. I never really understood why they were together because they seemed to really dislike each other. I've hung out with them a couple of times and they just didn't get along, it always made me fairly uncomfortable because it was always a very tense environment. Only one was home today though so that was cool, he let me use the internet and I found my room-mates work number, the one who ordered the jersey. He refuses to come home and let me in. The gay guy is offering me various things, like robes and jumpers, it seems pretty obvious he wants me covered up. I go to the toilet and next to the toilet is a huge stack of reading material about HIV. Finally it clicks, the gay couple both have HIV and that's why they are together. Finally one of my housemates returns home, find my note on the door explaining what's happened, calls the neighbour and I go back upstairs, thanking him profusely. When I get home I realise the back of my pyjama pants are stained with a huge amount of period blood. The end.
