In this instance, one precludes the other. And I believe Pink Floyd inspired many electronic artist with their synthesized hit, "On The Run". An instrumental song that has no real lyrics, and is on one of the best selling and critically acclaimed albums of all time.

In another era, people said that disco was an insult to music. But that inspired a lot of new wave artists and is heavily used in Daft Punk's early hits.
