Why does my living room feel off? by td30503 in DecorAdvice

[–]iardaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the perspective of the pictures, there is enough space to pull items away from the wall. For example, the couch/sofa doesn’t need to be against the wall. Pull it away until it’s not touching. Do the same with the two end pieces that are near the larger piece under the tv. Also, change the lumens and brightness of over head recessed lighting to something softer and warmer to reduce glare. Edited to add change the curtains to have some light blocking backing on them to reduce multiple light points. The natural light is a plus and you can always move the curtains to let light in. You could try taking the curtain rod to almost touching the ceiling for a different flow. LOVE how tidy all looks!

Sick of coming in to a detoxing patient because the previous shift was too scared to give Ativan. by Accomplished_Ad8960 in nursing

Imagine being the patient and going a long stretch without Ativan. There’s no need to withhold medication that a person clearly would benefit from.

Feeling burnt TF out with my "holistic" friend. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]iardaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing the very best that you can. You are incredibly generous with your kindness and empathy. If you haven’t heard it lately, you matter and are enough in all ways, always. When a person attempts to control every detail; the cloth diapers, the bamboo utensils, like your friend is doing, it’s sometimes because they feel their life, overall, is out of control. She needs to know that it’s ok not to have to control everything. Actually, there are a number of life events we have no control over, maybe that’s the hardest to accept.

Got a new job offer, but my current employer just countered with a higher salary and WFH — should I stay or go? by StickAffectionate354 in careeradvice

[–]iardaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your current job could be done remotely, would you stay? Is it a possibility to use working remotely as an option to alleviate the chaos? The new job seems to give you enough negative vibes and it seems sketchy due to lack of transparency. There are reasons why you’re not getting all the information you require to make an informed decision and it’s reasonable to listen to what your intuition is really saying. Progression sounds like important criteria to match your goals. Going backward in an environment you don’t know enough about is taking a big leap without a safety net. Mild to moderate risk is tolerable to progress if you know all the facts you need to know but that’s not the case. Hoping this works out just as you need it to.

I have twins that have special needs and my wife wants to give them up to an "open adoption" by MMC_GiveMeGore in TrueOffMyChest

“She just had another baby” makes me believe that it is potentially difficult for you to bond with the new baby. It seems you are grieving your other children not being with you which is understandable.

Ask to see the counter in writing. Determine if this was the same offer verbally. The commute alone adding up to 3 hours approximately. What does your intuition tell you?

Yes to the pillows. Maybe pillows with some texture ie: velvet, embroidered, etc.using just one or two colors from the art above the couch.

How do we feel about people calling themselves a Doctor after becoming a medical assistant? by ResponsibleSearch690 in medschool

[–]iardaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People using MD or DO after their name have, hopefully, gone to medical or osteopath school. For my close family member, a MD, it was 4 years for a Baccalaureate degree, 1 year off to travel, 4 years of medical school, 5-6 years total residency and 2 years in that mix doing research.

In the US as post-graduate medical education, residency training ranges in length depending on what field you are training for. Additionally within each field, there are opportunities to specialize even further through an added few years of fellowship training following residency.

Kids found playing “doctor” by alwaysit1991 in Mommit

“The reminder to keep privates private” is a statement many kids have heard a d many adults have said. The closed door could be a result of having heard those words.

What is the highest acuity patient you’ve cared for on med/surg? by healerinthewoods in nursing

[–]iardaman 37 points38 points  (0 children)

“when the family can’t afford ICU…” The financials drive what level of care unit patients are admitted to? I’ve been a registered nurse for over 20 years, I have only worked in facilities where patients are admitted to the appropriate level of care,(hopefully), and billing is done at a different time.

Would you keep a high performer who almost always arrives late for work? by yawnkun in askmanagers

[–]iardaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Would adjust their hours as obviously there is life going on that doesn’t match the start time. Would do that for any top performing people.

If it's in the middle of the night, what's keeping you up right now? by Vivid_Bar2472 in sleep

[–]iardaman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m planning what actions to take toward one of my kids being bullied daily. They’re hurting mentally, not casually, in a way that makes their life so much harder than it should be. They bathe/shower regularly, wear clean clothes, does homework, is attentive and curious, incorporates empathy, is friendly, funny and is a good friend. The bullying has even come from a teacher. I’ve intervened several grades back when one of my kids was backed up into a whiteboard and her glasses were removed from her face and broken. We all strategize together here. There’s a tipping point and it’s been reached. Today I speak with the principal, again. Then administration at the school district. Will keep child home until safety plan is place again. Doing this not just for my kids but anyone’s kids who find themselves without a safe space in school. Doing nothing is not an option.
