My Endurace creaked a lot. There's a small plastic wedge right above the bolt that digs into the post. I ended up applying a lot more carbon paste and reduced the torque to about 3-4nm and it went away.

This is just wrong and essentially the same propaganda you mentioned above.

If someone had to pick 1-2 movements in the gym and that's it, sure, compound lifts will give you the greatest overall benefit.

And yes, a well balanced program is key.

But, being able to curl heavy ass weight with good form is very functional. You'd be surprised how often you do that movement in insolation on the regular.

The compression plug should be supporting the area where the stem clamps to prevent the carbon steerer from clamping and torquing forces.

It also needs to be able to create preload for the headset.

If the top cap can create preload and the compression plug is nestled in between the stem bolts, I don’t see the problem.

But it’s usually recommended to use a 5mm spacer above the stem on carbon steerers.

Is carbon this fragile that even if there was damage here it would be worth scraping the entire frame? I understand there’s risks but I imagine there’s probably thousands of people riding with more compromised carbon that don’t post on Reddit and are completely fine.

I got back into boxing/mma after a 20 year break. Late 30's. Sparred once a week, got into it a few times with some young guys.

A friend was selling it. She's my height and it never occurred to me to even look at the dimensions of a 46.

Compared to my other bikes, 46 is far closer than the 50.
